AKB48 Members Mother Arrested

AKB48 isn't having a good start to the year.

After losing two members recently due to a scandal, a new news story has hit the Wotadom in full force - The story that a member of AKB48's mother has done an indecent act with an underage boy.

Now, I don't continuously follow AKB48, however when an update interests me I will look into it - but I was shocked by this, probably because I am starting to like AKB a lot more now, and also because... I was hoping that it wasn't a front girls mother.

Well, there goes my hope >.>

However, there is a lot of support for this member right now, who is apparently Team A leader Takahashi Minami. In all honesty, I am so sad that it has happened to her. No one deserves this at all, and the poor girl must be devastated - so I find it nice that a lot of the comments on Arama are about the support that they have for the girl and about standing behind her through this, and also the hopes that she won't graduate because of it (doubtful, as it wasn't her fault at all).

But, when it concerns the two offenders - Takamina's mother and the 15 year old she 'violated', there is quite a divide - looking on Tokyohive, the first few comments that appeared (two of them) talked about Takamina's mother being forced into the act, calling the kid a delinquent and such, whilst others blame the mother for the act. In the end, I don't know which to believe - but it happened, and until we get further news about it, we won't know who initiated the act. All we know right now is that Takamina's mother did do it, as she admitted it.

With this sudden outbreak of AKB news, a lot of people are commenting on the news - most is, thankfully, support for Takamina and her well being. A few people are speculating a graduation because of this, whilst many hope that graduation is not on the agenda. I doubt AKB could do with more of them, to be quite honest, considering two members already left. Besides, in this case, it is not Takamina's fault for what she did - and it seems that she has a lot of support to back her up. Then again, international fans are a bit different to the Japanese fans...

But, reading the comments on this news is interesting - there is a good divide of people who are supporting the youth who was 'violated' and then the other half who are supporting the mother who was 'forced to do indecent acts'. I can't help but wonder what really goes on, but we will need to wait for more news to get a bigger back story into this whole ordeal.

Alos, just to add this in: Some comments are just insensitive towards both the offenders and Takamina herself in a way. I honestly don't know how people can joke about such a situation, because this is serious. It has affected Takamina and her family, as well as the fans.

But, whatever the case may be, I hope that Takamina is pulling through this. I honestly hope that this does not sign her graduation certificate for her, because from what I have seen of her in videos, she is a very entertaining member. I may not like her a great deal right now, but I'm still getting used to the group; it'd be sad to see her go.

  1. It really is sad. But at least she wasn't directly involved and hopefully she can pull past this! But poor AKB, this hasn't been the best way to start 2012 for them has it?

By the way, she's captain of Team A, not K! But ironically... Team K's captain, Akimoto Sayaka, was involved in a scandal too which lead to her resigning as captain (but she came back). Food for thought I suppose :\

    1. Thanks for the correction Nia! *corrected it now* and when I read it, I was halfway through homework... so I was really shocked! In all honesty, I have really come to like Takamina, and this happens... poor thing!

I would love it if she pulled through it. Hopefully, nothing drastic happens in the long run!

  2. I hate insensitive comments too. I doubt she will be forced to graduate because Akimoto adores Takamina.

    1. Thank goodness! Plus, it isn't her fault at all - but I know that in some cases, Idols will shoulder the blame themselves :(

  3. I too am new to AKB & Takamina is the front runner for being my #1 in that group. It sucks that this happened to her mother but I don't necessarily see how this impacts anything related to AKB. I can see her taking a leave of absence but that's about it.

Anyone calling for or predicting a graduation because of this is over reacting. Takamina did nothing wrong here & it's unfortunate that the actions of her mother are reflecting badly on her. I hope that more fans take the high road & support instead of calling for heads to roll.

    1. I think people are just jumping to the conclusion that graduation is going to loom over her now, but I doubt it (and hope it won't happen)

I'm going to support her with this. If anything, this news has made me like her more.

  4. I think what is so hurtful and sad about it from the fans perspective is that Takamina always comes across as such a responsible, sweet sister character. Some people dislike Yuko, some dislike Acchan, but everyone loves Takamina. She really seems to dedicate her life to AKB. I remember an episode of AKBingo where they pranked the girls, had one "accidentally" break an important guitar and then "blame" Takamina for it. Instead of saying that the other girl was lying, or deny responsibility, Takamina said she would apologize. I guess I've always just had this impression of her that AKB is so important in her life. It sucks that all of this has to happen to anyone, much less her.

    1. In all honesty, I wasn't fond of Takamina at first - I just thought she was this random girl who looked like she belonged in Idolling!, however recently I have started to like her.

I honestly hope that, despite what happens, she continues to dedicate herself to AKB. She has been there since the beginning, so it would be strange if she gave up on it because of this one thing, though I highly doubt that that will happen.
