Images From '17: The PV Awards Of The Year

2017 is ending, and 2018 is on its way, but before the year wraps up and leaves us to start anew, it's time to take another look back at just a few of the PV's that made our year of Idols wonderful, and just a tad disappointing.

It's my favourite post of the Year End series, and it's all about the things I pretend to know about best. We're heading into the PV Awards of the year, people, and we're gonna see which ones made it. ARE YA READY, READERS?

SURPRISE! There's a bunch of H!P in here, and boy oh boy, I hate myself for it. Not because I think my taste in videos is lacking (dude, I'm actually confident in that area. I pride myself on liking good videos), but because there seems to be a lack of diversity here, at least to me. Still, it is what it is - H!P released some solid music videos in the Year gone by, ones that I have thoroughly enjoyed and remembered since they made their debut.

At least there's that positive to come out of H!P for this year, amongst all the fuck-ups and whatnot. They had to get one thing right, at least.

Anyways, with this post, I'm going to do my usual course of action, and rank the PV's based on random titles. I really see no point in doing a Top 10~20 of videos, because I like so many of them throughout the year, and I can never place them in a numbered order. Plus, I like doing the titles.

Of course I have a definitive favourite that stood out more than the others, even a nope or two from 2017, and they will be rewarded accordingly, just as I did last year. For the rest, though, I have grouped them into categories, based on various factors. Some categories will have more than others, and a few will have less, but that's how it is. Depending on the category, I can be stupidly picky.

As with music and most things, all videos included in this Ranking of sorts are the videos that, throughout the year, I have remembered the most. They are the ones that I recall out of all that I have seen, and the ones that are so impressive, I just had to include them. Of course, I won't list every video I have seen; that would take ages, and I don't have the time, and obviously, I won't include all your personal favourites.

As one blogger, and this being my blog, all videos included are subject to my own, acquired tastes. You may not agree with me on any of these listings, but I do hope that you respect what I have chosen to put in this list. I am catering to my own love for videos, though catering to your love for videos is an added bonus.

This is it, Reader dears. The PV Awards of the year 2017, in full. Which videos stuck out to me, and which ones are left in the dusty depths of the Honorable Mentions? Just who ranks the highest of them all, and who has hit rock bottom?

Plug in your earphones, grab a drink and get your viewing eyes switched on. These are the Images of '17, and it's time to press play...~

Will your group reign supreme in this unofficial ranking? Read on, find out, and enjoy~

Aikawa Maho Decides To Graduate ANGERME and Hello! Project

H!P Execs: "Okay, guys, how should we end the year? Low note or high?"
H!P Management: "I dunno, it's been a pretty shit year. Maybe we should go out with something positive, like, say... a beloved members return?"
H!P Execs: "Nope. She's decided to graduate."
H!P Management: "Well, fuck. Low note it is, then. Things can't get any shitter for us in 2017, at least."
H!P Execs: "Here, here." -sips bubbly champagne and hits PUBLISH on the official announcements page-

A look into the End of Year discussions at Up-Front HQ, because they gotta go big, or go home, despite the multiple nope moments they've already experienced this year.

Aikawa Maho is graduating ANGERME and Hello! Project, and no, this is not how I want to end my year. Hell, it's not even how I wanted to wake up on the final day of 2017, but, there we go. Life just doesn't cater to our desires, does it, now?

Le sigh.

So, yeah... It was announced only recently, and though I've not seen a whole lot online about it, the few comments I have come across are heartfelt and sad. I can see that it's disappointed so many fans, regardless of which member they happen to support. However, there is also a lot of understanding as well, with fans acknowledging that this choice of Maho's is probably for the best, and I respect this. It's so nice to see the community actually respecting Maho's decision and praising her for taking herself into consideration.

The Sound From '17: The Final Selection ~Music Selection '17 Ver.~

My creativity is lacking. This post is late. I have work in just under three hours. So, what am I going to do?

Aggravate my carpel tunnel, all for the sake of being ~kind of~ on time. Plus, I really would love to see this one out, because hey! It's the Music Selection Post: Year End version! Finally, I can crack on, and rank a bunch of tracks that I've loved from the year gone by, possibly piss a few people off when the beloved's don't rank, and focus on the songs that have delighted me this year.

It's time to put our Ranking pants on (that... sounds gross, lol) and take a look back at what 2017 has delivered! In sound and song, what has pleased you, and who has ranked high?

My darling Readers, it's time. Let's blast this music!

Whenever the End of Year posts roll around, it's a struggle to think up the titles and concepts to make each yearly post a little different. In 2016, I tackled my first Top 100 Songs of the Year post, and though I did enjoy doing that... Yeah, it's not happening again this year.

There are two reasons for why I won't be doing a Top 100. Firstly, and most crucially, I didn't listen to as many songs this year as I did last, and secondly, the time to do it just isn't there. I mean, what I'm doing for this year's post is time consuming anyway (especially after missing the previous days post). So, this time around, it will be a tad more condensed, though a little different than before.

This year, I'm also ranking my favourite Albums and Singles, as well as a final ranking of my favourite songs. It won't be enormous, but, it'll be enough. After all, it's actually somewhat harder to rank a smaller number of songs, than a multitude. At least, that's what I think.

As with any other Ranking themed post, I would like to point out that, as this is my blog, and I am one blogger, a lot of (all) these songs are all based on my preference, and therefore will not cater to most of your tastes. I have tried to make the list as diverse as I possibly can, but I also haven't listened to every single, album or track out there that was released this year. So, if a song you loved hasn't appeared, or a single and album have been neglected from my list, all I can say is this: Suck it up, and make your own list. That way, at least the things you loved can appear on a Ranking of sorts, somewhere.

I cater to my own music joys, first and foremost, but satisfying your own musical tastes is a bonus, as well. Still... My list, my choice! That is the way it will always be (until I do a fan-ranking, then it's totally your call).

So, this is it! A bunch of music, a few Top Ranking lists, and one overall winner for 'Song of The Year', or whatever I title it. Which song will come out on top, and just who pleased my ears from the year gone by?

It's time to listen to some music and find out, dearest Readers. Are you ready to enjoy the Sound of '17 in all its glory, and see if your favoured songs made it.

It's time to listen and enjoy! Are ya reader, beloved Readers?

The Promise of '17: Idols Of The Year

I swear, this is a yearly feeling, but I really am not prepared for these Year End posts. How has it come around so quick? It feels like there is so much to do, and so little time to prepare, especially with work and life throwing themselves into the mix...

Well, what can I do, aside from get on with it, and throw out these posts like they are hot potatoes? It's time to get my head in the game, sit back, work my typing fingers, and unleash the posts that will celebrate the Year's End.

Dear Readers, it's that time of the year again. Are you ready to look back at 2017, before running into 2018 head-on?

Let's do this!

Another Year (almost) over, another set of posts to type up! And to kick-start it all, we're going to look back on some of the shining stars of 2017, the groups, artists and Idols who made it all worthwhile in the year gone by. Of course, as with any other post from years gone by, this article includes the groups, artists and Idols that I have personally enjoyed. Though I might include a few that have been suggested by friends, I can't say for sure that I will include every single group you have agreed with and adored from the year gone by.

I am one blogger, and this is all based on my opinion, as well as my feelings towards these specific groups. Of course, a little help from my friends allowed me to make this list a tad more diverse, but otherwise, all of the Top suggestions are entirely my own.

Also, I would like to point out that, despite this being a ranking of sorts, there is no clear order about which I group I preferred over others. Though I do have a winner in mind for 'Idol(s) Of The Year', everyone else is just as wonderful, and can't rank any higher or lower than others for those that are listed.

So. One winner. A whole bunch of amazing groups. But who will come out on top, and which groups will I be looking out for in the year to be? Let's whittle it down, and take a look at just who made my 2017 worth the while.

Are your favourites going to appear, too, and will your Idol(s) of The Year come out on Top, and find themselves crowned as The Promise of '17?

Read on and find out. Are ya ready, Readers?

And A Jolly Christmas To You! Merry Winter and A Festive New Year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

And A Happy, soon-to-be, NEW YEAR!

No matter where you are in the world, and no matter how you celebrate this day - or if you don't - I hope that everyone is having a wonderful, merry day, and enjoying themselves to the fullest! Whatever it is you are doing - eating, spending time with your family, talking to friends or sitting in front of the TV - I want you to know that I wish you all a Happy Holiday, and that I wish for your happiness and well-being.

Once again, Christmas is a hectic day for the family. The children open their presents and make a mess (a good mess), play with toys, and then we eat and have dessert, pull crackers, tell those silly jokes and wear paper crowns. Today, my crown continuously fell off, meaning that I lost the battle about who could keep their crown between myself and one of my older nephews.

However, I gave him his original crown. Apparently I once ran two imaginary Kingdoms in this household.

I've also done the usual: Hoarding gifts onto the staircase (last year: the living room), and going under the tree to get said gifts. I feel like this is now my designated role, the gift-giver, so to speak XD But it's fun, and the kids are really enjoying this time of the year. The fact they all loved their presents, is wonderful.

The best part, though? One of my tiny nephews was so excited with one present (a bike), he was silent and dancing, eyes wide and sparkling. Even after he got off it, he looked at it again, did the same thing, and returned to the bike. He really couldn't believe it. That was amazing.

OH, and the chicken was actually cooked this year. I GOT CHICKEN! XD

Okay, I won't keep you all too long. Once again, please have a wonderful, warm Christmas, a Happy Holiday, and a lovely day. No matter where you are, no matter how you spend this day, please stay merry and smiling, and love your Idols.

I hope that your day has been pleasant and good. Thank you for popping up to see me this Christmas day <3

And now it's time for... THE CHRISTMAS IDOLS! Who will appear today, hm? ;)

Idols of Advent: This Love Filled Christmas Eve - =LOVE's 'Bokura no Seifuku Christmas' (MV Review)

All around the world, the theme of Christmas Eve can differ. Some celebrate the night before Christmas as you would Christmas Day, whilst some treat it as a celebration of love. In Japan especially, the day is similar to that of Valentine's, where lovers unite to show off their love as they walk beneath the Christmas lights. The magic of the season brings out the true feelings of young and old alike, and beneath the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree, even more love can blossom...

'Tis the season to be loved, dear Readers, and tonight in our final review for the Idols of Advent, let's celebrate with yet another pic spam, and love all that our Idols deliver from the past, the present, and the near future. Are you ready to wave your Christmas Eve away with a beautiful song by your darling Idols?

The first music video for Christmas 2017 that I saw was Bokura no Seifuku Christmas by =LOVE, and from the moment I saw it, I knew that this would be my Christmas Eve finale. Though I haven't done as many reviews as I would have liked, from the get-go, I knew that I would have =LOVE on my list, because it's just so cheerful and cute, and the epitome of a Japanese Christmas!

Plus, I just love the visuals, and the girls. And =LOVE. I like everything about it, basically.

There are a great deal many videos based around this time of the year, of course, but for Winter / Christmas '17, Bokura no Seifuku Christmas has to be my #1 song and video for the season! With its upbeat nature, cute sound and lovey vibe, I have become endeared to the second single by this wonderful seiyuu group, and it has truly lifted my spirits and prepared me for Christmas day.

So, finally, let's get this review on a roll and finish Idols of Advent for 2017! Even if it was a small series, I hope that the Christmas spirit has shown, and that we can celebrate Christmas Day with some wonderful Idol songs, and some beautiful videos!

Grab your konbini cake, buy yourself a bucket of KFC chicken, and trail the streets beneath the lights with your loved one(s). It's time to celebrate Christmas Eve the romantic way, and confess your love to that special someone...

Idols of Advent: The Warmth of A Winter Morning - Morning Musume '17's 'Morning Misoshiru' (MV Review)

As the nights become longer, let's continue our Advent of the Idols and entertain ourselves with the purity and warmth they deliver during this chilly time of the year. Whether the videos we look at are all about the snow, the entertainment, the lights or the hope and joy Christmas and winter time brings, let's celebrate the beauty of the season, and be merry and bright in all we do.

Our Idols will deliver something wonderful to watch once again, and for today's Advent surprise, let's all snuggle up my the campfire, wear our warmest clothes, and enjoy a bowl of warm miso soup before we fall asleep beneath a star sprinkled sky...

Since the release of Morning Misoshiru's music video, I have wanted to review this beautiful, winter-fueled piece of wonder, but never actually found the time to sit down and talk about. Then, when I was looking out for videos that would fit my Winter / Snow / Christmas theme for the Idols of Advent mini-series, I figured hey, why not? Let's throw in Morning Misoshiru, because it's all chilly but warm in the most perfect way. Plus, it brings up one aspect of Christmas that I am all about, and that is togetherness.

I think that the members wearing fluffy hats, winter jumpers and scarves also helps in me believing this is all about winter. Plus, the lights and the natural, cold look of their surroundings only strengthens this case I have going.

Though it might not necessarily be about the winter, the snow or even the Christmas holiday, let's celebrate the warmth and beauty of a camp-out in the coldest season, and entertain ourselves with all that Morning Musume provide, in all its gorgeous glory.

It's time to relax, spend time with our friends, and forget the rest of the world as we sit together with our bowls full of miso soup...

Idols of Advent: Wrapped Inside This Blanket of Snow... Dream's 'Blanket Snow' (MV Review)

We continue our season of snow and delight with some more Idol videos, all themed around Christmas and the winter time! Whether it includes the cold, the snow or a Christmas Tree and lights, let's celebrate the joys of December, and celebrate the beauty that the winter time can bring. If it's warm, a little sad, or filled with celebration, let's enjoy all that our Idols deliver to us this time of the year.

Counting down the days until Christmas, let's continue to open the doors of Advent, and wrap ourselves in a cocoon of warmth and love. Who will deliver a spirited winter song today?

I really didn't want to head into a full-on peppy review after yesterday's post, however, I want to keep up the spirit of the winter season and deliver the beauty of Idol videos for this time of the year. I feel pretty inconsiderate doing this right now, but I also know that I must move forward. I also know that no matter what, I will try all I can to keep Jong-hyun alive in my heart. With that said, let's talk about today's video a little bit.

I intended to review Dream's Blanket Snow for this small series from the moment I saw it, both for its beauty and because, y'know, snow. Plus, it's a nice video to look at and remember Dream by, who disbanded this past June in order to pursue various solo activities. It's sad to know that we won't ever receive a video as lovely as this one from Dream again, but I'm glad I was able to stumble upon it for this review.

I'm even more delighted by the fact that I actually found a full copy of it somewhere on the web, because heck, youtube didn't have it anywhere. That was a rather annoying search, but at least it was around, unlike some videos.

Thankfully, the full version proved to be just as pretty and entertaining as the 4 or so minutes worth that youtube had to offer. It's such a cute, winter-fuelled video that is beautiful to watch, and with a sweet, warm atmosphere despite all the snow and winter flurry feels. Of course, it's not as upbeat or adorable as other songs and videos, delivering a more subdued approach that feels a tad more grown-up, even serene at times. Of course, it has its own adorable, sweet moments. It's just not OTT with it, is all.

Now it is time to enter this lovely winter wonderland, and entertain ourselves with the warmth and charm of Snow Blanket. Is this all a dream, or the reality of a winter's night?

Let the snow flutter down to create a world of illumination and serene beauty...

Kim Jong-hyun of SHINee Passes Away (18/12/2017)

...

2017. Please end.

I'm sorry to say that today on December 18th, 2017, Kim Jong-hyun, Korean singer and a member of the boy band SHINee, has sadly passed away. He was 27 years old.

After reading various reports, it is now known that Kim Jong-hyun was found unconscious in a Seoul apartment, and later pronounced dead at the hospital. Further information includes that authorities were alerted by Jong-hyun's sister, who had received a series of text messages from her late brother that caused her concern.

SM Entertainment confirmed the news of Jong-hyun's death later in the evening, quieting suspicions that Jong-hyun was only unconscious, due to inconsistent reports. The company released an official statement:

"We're sorry to deliver such heart-aching, unfortunate news. On December 18th, SHINee member Jonghyun left our side unexpectedly. He was found unconscious at a residential hotel in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul and was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on the evening of the 18th."

"The deep sorrow cannot be compared to ones of his family who had to let go of their loving son and brother but the employees and artists of SM Entertainment, also in deep shock and sorrow, are offering condolences,

"Jonghyun was the best artist who loved music more than anyone and always worked hard for his performance. … We ask you to refrain from making rumors or assumptions based on reports in respect of his family who are in deep sorrow from the sudden news. As his family wished, his funeral will be carried out in the quietest manner with his family members and co-workers."

Jong-hyun's death is currently being investigated as a possible act of suicide.

...

This is so hard to fathom. I really can't get my head around the news that Jong-hyun is gone, that his life has stopped at the age of 27. How is it even possible? He was so young, he had a life ahead of him... How can it simply stop?

I am so shocked about this news. It just appeared in a facebook message from one of my groups, and I just... I didn't know how to react. I went cold, and I wanted to cry. I didn't know if it was true or not, as reports at the time were so inconsistent and flipped between 'unconscious' and 'death', with no clarity about what was happening, and when. So, I had my hopes up a little then, but the latest reports have confirmed the worst: Jong-hyun has passed away, and he has left family, friends, an entire industry, fans and a community in mourning.

Though I have never been an active fan of SHINee, they have been present on this blog, and have held a small place in my heart. They were one of those few Korean groups that actually intrigued me, and one I would become invested in whenever the time called for it. I found myself enjoying all they did, because they were a charming, fun group. I never actively followed them, but they still entertained me greatly.

And out of them all, I liked Jong-hyun the most. Even when I did mistake him for Mike.

It's really hard to think that he's actually gone. How is it that he's gone?  How has such an inspiring, beautiful man left this world behind? I am heartbroken by this news, and I really don't want to believe that any of this is real. I just wish we could turn back the clock and do something, anything.

This is a sad, cruel day. The world has lost another wonderful soul, and at such a young age.

I haven't cried yet, not whilst at work and not when I'm at home in any line of sight. I have a feeling I'll probably cry tonight before I sleep, because whilst I cannot say I am a true fan of SHINee or Jong-hyun, I have had fun and happy times watching SHINee videos, and fallen for various aspects of their on-camera personas, Jong-hyun especially. And now I won't see that in a SHINee video ever again.

And after Jong-hyun's passing, I know that I will see an incomplete SHINee. There will be a core part missing from the group, and though I cannot speak for the fans or the group members, this might be the case for everyone who has been a part of and supported SHINee from its beginnings. They will never be the same again, but in Jong-hyun's memory, I hope they continue and bring their music to the world, because their music can help those who are grieving, those who are sad. I hope beyond all hope that SHINee and the fans do what they can to keep Jong-hyun alive in their hearts.

It's a cruel thing, to be taken from this world so young, and an even crueller thing to know that Jong's death may have been his last solution in this world of suffering and heartache.

This news is devastating, and I'm in mourning for Jong-hyun, a beautiful creature who brightened a small part of my life, and gave me enjoyment in his performance through music videos and song. I am sorry that this wonderful young man has been taken from this world so early, and I am sorry for his family, his friends, fellow members, fans and co-workers. I am sorry that for him, he had to find a way out when he couldn't ease his hurt any more.

Now, I hope that he is at peace. I hope that his suffering has ended, and that Kim Jong-hyun, member of SHINee and beloved Korean Idol, will be at ease and look down on his group and the community he helped to build with love and spiritual support.

Today is a day filled with grief and sadness, but please keep Jong-hyun, his family, friends, fellow SHINee members, fans and colleagues in your thoughts and hearts this day. We have lost another beautiful, talented creature, and the industry is at a loss now that a talent and glorious soul has departed our world in such a sudden way.

For the short time he was your Idol and inspiration, he lit up your lives and gave you happiness. He delivered high-quality performances and let you into his world of music and life, and showed you all a side of him that was yours to remember dearly. Please think back to those happy times, remember those moments of joy he produced, and do not let the darkness overlap what he delivered in the past.

An inspiration, an icon and an Idol. Kim Jong-hyun, thank you for everything you gave. Now, we can only feel sorrow, and we will miss you so much, but we will always remember you fondly.

Please, Rest In Peace, Kim Jong-hyun. You don't have to suffer or feel hurt any longer, but you will be in our thoughts, and you will forever be in our memory, and from then until now and beyond, we will adore you.

Idols of Advent: This Christmas with Only You - BTOB's 'Christmas TIme ~Kimi dake wo~ (MV Review)

The holly, jolly time of the year is back, and in the spirit of the season, it's time to return to the yearly Christmas, Winter and Snow posts, and entertain ourselves with one of the most festive times of the year! Whether it's a video filled with warmth and happiness, a ting of sadness and regret, or love and merriment, let's celebrate all that the winter delivers in sound and vision!

We're counting down the days with these Idols of Advent, and making our December a little more merry as we go along. But who will entertain our Christmas thoughts this frosty eve?

I'm not a K-pop fan or follower, but the winter time is one of those very few, very rare moments where I will honestly go all ham, and listen to whatever is around, and let's be frank: Those K-pop artists many of you love and cherish are some of the best celebrators of Christmas music out there. I swear, there's more Christmas or winter related content from the K-pop industry than there is in the J-pop industry. That, or I'm just not looking hard enough in my J-pop categories. Who knows?

Regardless, I do love the K-pop Christmas content that I've seen so far, but one of the most impressive is from BTOB. Ironically, this is a Japanese track, but eh. I'm just happy I found a song I'm freakin' in love with, and a video that is hella entertaining and completely Christmas related. It's so cute, and 100% worth your time if you're new to the BTOB songs and videos.

Y'all are in for a serious treat, especially if you keep your eye on the members in the background. In fact, I recommend you do just that - it's worth all your time to go back and see what the heck everyone is doing, when someone else is taking the lead.

So, keep your eyes peeled, enjoy the happiness that is about to ensue, and entertain yourselves with the joys of BTOB! We're going to spend a beautiful, white Christmas with these guys, and fall in love in the process.

It's Christmas Time ~Kimi dake wo~. Will your heart be captured in the snow fall today?

Idols of Advent: Ring, Ring, Ring! Let The X'Mas Party Begin! - Flap Girls' School 'Happy Merry² X'mas' (MV Review)

IT'S CHRISTMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!

-World implodes-

It's the jolliest time of the year, and once again I am back to writing up some festive reviews! Whether the videos or songs in question are based around winter, Christmas or snow, it doesn't matter, so long as it reminds me of one of the many seasons I enjoy most!

So, with the Christmas posts here (finally!), let's count our way down to Advent List, and check out the Idols who will make our December merry! Are you ready to feel the warmth of the winter season this year?

Though I won't have as many days this year as I typically do, I still want to try for a few posts to round the season off, before the big day of Christmas itself arrives! I may not post every day, mind, due to a packed schedule and a lot of work... I will of course, try! So wish me luck~

To kick-start this cheerful set of posts (well, one can hope it's cheerful!), let's begin with the festive treat of a Christmas Party, courtesy of Flap Girls' School! Though it's a small gathering of four, don't be perturbed by that, because it's still a fun party filled with cuteness and, of course, CAKE!

It's time to prepare for the Christmas that's to come, so put on your Santa hats, take out the Christmas Cake and hot chocolate, warm yourselves by the fire, and snuggle close to your loved ones. Even when we are together or alone on Christmas Day, let the sounds and visions of our Idols warm our hearts...

A cute Christmas is about to begin! Are you ready to fall into a world of presents, parties and Idols?

Rin' Rin' Rin'! It's time to begin!

Kudo Haruka - The Graduation Appreciation Post

In my final post for my Duupreciation series, it's time to talk about the girl you love and adore. No reviews, no songs. Just our memories, and beautiful pictures of Kudo Haruka. It's time to appreciate the Idol we will all surely miss...

On September 29th, 2011, Iikubo Haruna, Ishida Ayumi, Sato Masaki and Kudo Haruka were revealed to be the 10th generation. At the time, I was a huge fan of Morning Musume, anticipating the newest generation who would become a part of a group I enjoyed the most. I was excited to see these girls join the group, and to have Kudo Haruka - an egg with some experience under her belt, a husky voice and charm to boot - seemed to be a dream come true for some. From Egg to Morning Musume, Duu was a fan favourite, and even until the day she leaves the entertainment industry, she will continue to hold a place in many people's hearts.

It's hard to think that now, a few days on, she has officially graduated from Morning Musume '17 and Hello! Project, and will forge a new path for herself hereon. Until the next single and music videos come along, I don't think I'll be able to process the fact she is well and truly gone from a group so many people adore.

The Beginning Of A Limitless Sky... Kudo Haruka Graduates Morning Musume '17 and Hello! Project

Today on December 11th, 2017, Kudo Haruka performed on her final stage as a member of Morning Musume '17. Now, after five years of being a Morning Musume member, and a further year as a Hello! Pro Egg, this Idol has spread her wings, and will move on to a brand new future in acting.

It's so weird to think that Duu has left Morning Musume and Hello! Project. It almost feels unreal, at this moment in time. How can she have graduated so soon?

[This Is Duu!] Her Final Journey. Goodbye, Duu... 'Wakain da shi!' (Music Video Review)

[This Is Duu!], also known as [A Week with Duu], is a series of posts dedicated to Kudo Haruka and her impending graduation on December 11th 2017. It is a series that will look at the wonders of Duu, whether it is in the form of a music video, sketches, live performances or even her photo books!

To celebrate all that is Duu, let's take a look back at everything she has given us, and remember the joy that she has delivered since debuting in Morning Musume, all those years ago! Are you ready to celebrate all that is Duu?

It's the end of the road, dear readers. Today I post my final review that features Kudo Haruka as a member of Morning Musume. All other reviews from past singles hereafter will include a graduated member, someone that many of you have cherished all these years. Somehow, this day has caught up with us far too fast.

Knowing that by tomorrow, Kudo Haruka will have graduated Morning Musume and Hello! Project, brings about a feeling of great sadness and despair. Though I have told myself countless times that this is the right thing for Duu to do, pursuing a dream of hers that I have no doubt she will do well in, I still have a melancholy feeling about it all. After all, Duu is an incredible Idol. She was never my Oshimem, but I liked her a lot. I always found her to be a bright, talented girl, someone who was worthy of the title 'Idol'.

This road of hers is coming to its end, though, and that path of 'Idol' will become a path for an actress. I do look forward to watching Duu grow in that area, but I wish she could stay in Morning Musume, too. I know, I know - Idols have a limited shelf life, and Duu is only doing what many other Idols have done before her. Still, I wish we would have had more time with her.

Today marks my final review for [This Is Duu!], and after a week of posts and thinking about Duu, dedicating my time and energy into all of these posts, I know now that I am going to miss this girl greatly. Kudo Haruka is amazing, and I feel like Wakain da shi!, the final music video that was specifically crafted for Duu, is a perfect representation of why we all love this girl, and why she is such a cherished member of Morning Musume.

It's time to say our goodbyes, everyone. Though she is only at the height of her youth, it's time for Kudo Haruka to walk a new direction, and become a person more incredible than the one that stands before us.

As we stand behind her and wave, Duu will walk towards a bright future, but she knows we're there. She knows that we will always cheer her on from behind...

[This Is Duu!] The Endless Sky is Duu's - 'ENDLESS SKY' (Music Video Review)

[This Is Duu!], also known as [A Week with Duu], is a series of posts dedicated to Kudo Haruka and her impending graduation on December 11th 2017. It is a series that will look at the wonders of Duu, whether it is in the form of a music video, sketches, live performances or even her photo books!

To celebrate all that is Duu, let's take a look back at everything she has given us, and remember the joy that she has delivered since debuting in Morning Musume, all those years ago! Are you ready to celebrate all that is Duu?

When looking back at the glory of Duu in music videos, I wondered which video I would use for the penultimate music video review. It had to capture aspects of Duu that made her so lovable and sweet, a moment that displays her humanity. As many fans already know, Kudo Haruka is a compassionate and honest person, a girl who will not hide her feelings and will always run forward with her emotions present at all times.

I know that there are a lot of videos out there that show the cool and mature side to Duu, but it is that delicate, girlish side of hers that I adore most, and that is the Duu I wish to capture. So, after looking back at some videos - The Vision and ENDLESS SKY especially - I finally decided which one I would review, and of course, it has to be ENDLESS SKY.

Because Duu cries, and Duu's tears are a precious embodiment of her character. She is one of the only members who has really cried during any graduation single, not for herself, but for the members she will no longer be performing beside.

It's time to continue our road towards Kudo Haruka's graduation date, but before we get to that crossroads and part ways, let's enjoy the little time we have left with her.

Even though this world has an endless sky, it is an ever-changing canvas. Soon, Duu's own canvas will change, and she will look up to see a sky that is different from the one her peers are watching. That is when she knows her own Endless Sky is no longer theirs...

[This Is Duu!] LILIUM ~The Falsehood of Duu~ (Stage Play Recap & Review)

[This Is Duu!], also known as [A Week with Duu], is a series of posts dedicated to Kudo Haruka and her impending graduation on December 11th 2017. It is a series that will look at the wonders of Duu, whether it is in the form of a music video, sketches, live performances or even her photo books!

To celebrate all that is Duu, let's take a look back at everything she has given us, and remember the joy that she has delivered since debuting in Morning Musume, all those years ago! Are you ready to celebrate all that is Duu?

hOLY SHIT, HOW HAVE I NOT WATCH THIS UNTIL NOW? HOW!?!?!?!?

Seriously, this shit would put Shakespeare to shame. What the heck, it took me well over three years to finally watch LILIUM -Lilium Shoujo Junketsu Kageki- in its entirety? I'm either lazy (check), or just ignorant of the great things in life (check again), because holy shit... Holy shit, this is amazing.

Good thing I decided to talk about a play that Duu had a key role in, because damn, if I didn't (and it hadn't been suggested to review Lilium) then I wouldn't have taken a look at this. In all honesty, the sole reason I did watch this one over Pharaoh no Haka, is because this one actually has a subtitled version, thanks to the dedicated fans.

And yes, I am wallowing in my own self loathing, because I dared to neglect this stage play for this long. Still, it's a damn good thing Duu is worth a whole day on this play, otherwise we wouldn't be here, and I would have continued to neglect Lilium for another three or more years. That's just the way this cinnamon rolls.

Oh, and once again, this Duu-related review comes at an oddly convenient time, as I am reviewing it just a day after the latest Magnolia Factory departure. Though no members of the group make an appearance here, I think that the heavy metaphor regarding flowers and how all flowers will eventually wilt, is quite significant to the current state of the group. It's horribly fitting, given the circumstance of these woeful times in HaroPromageddon.

That thought about Kobushi ran through my mind as the story of Lilium progressed, but it's also a truth that we acknowledge as human beings. Eventually, we will all die, for there is no eternity. Despite its fictional setting, Lilium hits home with the truth that death is an unstoppable act, and that loneliness comes with the loss of your loved ones, and that loneliness can even come with age . The symbolism of flowers only makes these things feel a tad bittersweet, if not a little romantic, in its weird and twisted way.

Because like flowers, even the most beautiful will eventually wither and die.

Today we are taking a look at LILIUM -Lilium Shoujo Junketsu Kageki-. Sometimes, we will cling to that moment of forever when the ones we love most disappear...

The Petals Are Falling... Kobushi Factory's Taguchi Natsumi Contract is VOID!

What is it with companies firing Idols when I'm in the midst of Graduation Week posts, aye? >o>

2017 has not been a bright year for Hello! Project, and the misfortune in graduating and dismissed members continues with the news that, after almost a month since her own scandal, Taguchi Natsumi has left Kobushi Factory and Hello! Project, making her the third member in just under a year to do so.

... Holy, shit guys, it comes in three's.
...

...

SHIT, GUYS, IT HAPPENED ON DECEMBER 6TH, OH FUCK I CALLED IT. -sobs hysterically, it was a fuckin' JOKE-

Way to fuck up my Duu running order, Up-Front. Ya fuckin' jerks.

WTF, how did I even predict this, I was joking. But, shit, seriously. It's happened.  And holy shit, this is the worst thing I predicted, ever, and I didn't even do it for my Year End Post. FUCK!

... Okay, let's get on with this and breathe, Chiima. Breathe.

[This Is Duu!] Dreamin' of Triple Duu - 'Dream Last Train' (Music Video Review)

[This Is Duu!], also known as [A Week with Duu], is a series of posts dedicated to Kudo Haruka and her impending graduation on December 11th 2017. It is a series that will look at the wonders of Duu, whether it is in the form of a music video, sketches, live performances or even her photo books!

To celebrate all that is Duu, let's take a look back at everything she has given us, and remember the joy that she has delivered since debuting in Morning Musume, all those years ago! Are you ready to celebrate all that is Duu?

I never intended for it to be this way, but somehow, Triplet happened to be my third review for Duu's Graduuation Week. How convenient, blogger-girl. Actually, I wanted to review Kimi no Kawai wa Iyashinai, but due to a lack of Duu (similar to PPU), I could not justify the review itself. Yes, she has awesome hair in that video, but she's also not in it as much as I'd like.

And then I saw one friend suggest Dream Last Train for one of their favoured Duu-related releases,
and because I wanted something to review in the 2014-2015 era, this song video was the most fitting. Plus, it comes with bonus Duu, something many MoMusu PV's lack, for some freakin' reason. And seriously, how can I deny a glorious amount of Duu? I can't, I just can't, especially when this week is all about her.

That, and I needed something to review before the day was up. I'm trying to keep to a schedule, here.

I know that Dream Last Train is a bit of a fan favourite, because it's a great song, and it brought together three of H!P's more underrated vocalists. A mix of husky and powerful vocals, Triplet was a true power-house unit, mixing three of the best that the company had to offer. I'm honestly surprised they never released anything past this, because let's be real; these girls were awesome together.

It's a freakin' crime, actually, especially when H!P denied us more Duu!

Anyway, we're gonna check out the (Another version.) PV for Dream Last Train, in all of its cookie-cutter glory. There will be Duu, and we will be trippin' over all the glorious moments of Duu to come. So much so, we might see... TRIPLE DUU! >o>

DUU ME, BABY!

(Wait, wait, Chiima, that sounds creepy and wrong, don't say that, for fucks sake!)

[This Is Duu!] The Sounds Of Duu (Kudo Haruka Song Selection)

[This Is Duu!], also known as [A Week with Duu], is a series of posts dedicated to Kudo Haruka and her impending graduation on December 11th 2017. It is a series that will look at the wonders of Duu, whether it is in the form of a music video, sketches, live performances or even her photo books!

To celebrate all that is Duu, let's take a look back at everything she has given us, and remember the joy that she has delivered since debuting in Morning Musume, all those years ago! Are you ready to celebrate all that is Duu?

The HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLS are aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive, with the sound of DUU-SONG!

(It had to be done, PS, that image is from Harukaze, Duu's 3rd photo book)

Due to my difficulty with time, I was a tad stumped about what to duu (kekeke) for my second Duu-themed post. I knew it wouldn't be a PV review - I like to interchange between MV reviews and other kinds of reviews for these types of series - so, I wondered.... What Can I Duu? (DUU!), and decided it would be a toss-up between various vieos of Duu being her charming, cute self on various variety segments, or a bunch of Duu-centric songs.

Of course, the songs won out, because I am basic, and also because I want a little more time to find good variety videos of Duu, if that post ever does arise. Plus, I find it easier to talk about Duu's performance skillz and singing chops when I'm in a pinch.

Oh, and I found some nice songs. A lot of them are from 2016, but who cares? If they feature Duu, then I am delighted already. I know she's an amazing performer, so no matter what she does, it's a win/win situation, amiright?

Thankfully, I have found 9 videos to share with you all that depict the delight of Duu. One such video contains two songs, rounding the number to 10 tracks for your listening pleasure, a beautiful amount for this delightful 10th generation member. That feels right, doesn't it?

Yep. It feels absolutely freakin'-right, Chiima!

Now, because I've added all of these tracks in on the day I post this, I've actually never heard a good chunk of them performed by Duu. Some tracks, I didn't even know existed! So, it's a surprise for me what comes up here, as well as you, though there are a few I was aware of in my time as a MoMusu fan. So, yeah; it's a review as I go kinda thing, though I doubt I'll hate them all. It's freakin' DUU, after all.

And with that thought in mind - DUU! - let's get on with this second post for my Week with Duu series. This Is Duu, people, and these are The Sounds of Duu. I hope your ears will feel delighted after this adventure.

Are you ready to press Play? ▶ Let's go~

[This Is Duu!] The Debut of Ultra Duu! - 'Pyoko Pyoko Ultra' [MV Review]

Okay, so this post might be a tad rushed, and that's because I have no time right now. December in general is a busy month, and by throwing in the Graduuation posts, I've only made it harder on myself. So, if I only do about three-four of these posts, (and not my usual seven) I duu apologise.

Kick-starting these posts is, of course, Duu's Debut. I was at war with myself about whether or not I should do Pyoko Pyoko Ultra for the first review, because whilst I love the song and video, it doesn't contain much of our dear Duu. In fact, it's a pretty shit debut for the freshly hatched 10ki, a thought I had even when the song came out. They get barely any lines, very little screen time, and Haruka herself isn't as present as I would like her to be. So, yeah. Shitty debut, for what is a pretty solid generation.

Then again, this was the Reina-Riho era of MM. You should kinda expect them > everyone else.

Well, it's good to look back at the origins of a member (even if Duu's origins were as an egg, but whatever) and returning to the debut of the 10th gen is always fun! After all, it's one of the last bright, energetic, childish endeavors the group did before becoming cool, awkward and mature. Sigh, those were the days.

It's time to look back, and it's time to remember Duu before she got tall, and before she cut her hair to the iconic hair-duu we know now. Let's reminisce, and take a good look at the cutest version of Duu. Are ya ready, kids?

[PV Selection] November '17

IT'S FUCKIN' EARLY, WHAT!?

It's the final Music Video Selection of 2017, which can only mean one thing...

IT'S CHRISTMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!!!! And Duu's Graduuation month ;^; Let's just cancel that last one, okay? >o>

We're at the end of the years selection posts, which means that now I will dedicate myself to the final reviews of the year! Of course, as with every December since 2012-ish (or 2013, who knows?) I will be writing out Christmas reviews, and my final Year End posts. Of course, this December will also have a dedicated slot to my Graduuation posts. I don't want to do it, because Duu is leaving far too soon... but it must happen. Le sigh.

Anyways, as per the usual, these are the videos chosen from the month gone by! Though my tastes will not match everyone's, please do respect my choices, and also, remember that I am one person, and what I think about a video or what I enjoy about can differ greatly from the thoughts of others. Plus, I may have not seen a lot of the PV's released for the month of November; some could be blocked in my country, or I never found them.

And of course, there is also the fact I might not like a video. It happens, and again, tastes vary. I can't apologise for not enjoying something XD

Finally, if you do want me to watch something - whether I have seen it already or not - please don't hesitate to suggest it to me! It's good to look back, see what you see, and reconfigure my thoughts. I'm not gonna say no to re-watching a video, after all!

And with that all said and done, guess what time it is? It's topress play, relax and enjoy some more Idol videos. Are youready to celebrate the penultimate releases for the year gone by?

Ready, and PLAY!

[Music Selection] November '17

I wanted this post to be out by December 1st, however because of various hiccups (laptop playing up, me having to go to work, no time in general etc.) that did not happen, so December 2nd post it is!

Amazingly, though, I am still getting the post up earlier than I usually would... The end of the year brings a few miracles, doesn't it? >o>

It is time for the final post of the year! With November over and done with, the nights becoming colder and December finally on our doorstep, we must bid adieu to the dregs of 2017, and prepare ourselves for the finale of the year, as well as the year that begins anew! Before this happens, however, we should celebrate the last remnants of the year in music, and with Christmas!

Let's take one last look at the month gone by for 2017, and enjoy the music we have been listening to, whether it's from the past, the present, or even the future! I wonder what songs will come up this time?

As per the usual, all thoughts and choices are my own. You know the drill, and now that I've said what I need to, we'll get on with the post, so that I can concentrate on future releases! ;)

Se, no... PRESS AND PLAY!!!!!!!
