I have only been abroad once in my life, and that was when I visited the Netherlands where I was able to meet my friends, Sarah and My-chan, for the first time. It was a big step, as I had never really been anywhere before that without my family, so another country was a little daunting. Thing is, the Netherlands is a 2 hour flight from the UK, if that, and where I am going next is a little more... well, it's a whole ocean off, I believe.
Basically, I'm going on a trip to Hong Kong, and I am pretty damn nervous.
I'm going because, as a part of my University course, students (so long as they are accepted) are able to go on a variety of trips. As a Film student, the ones I can undertake usually involve Film Festivals or Conventions, and for this trip to Hong Kong, I will be visiting the Film Festival there, as well as looking around Hong Kong itself in my spare time.
It's an exciting opportunity, and honestly, I am so happy I get to do this. I'm just really, really scared, too.
So yeah, I won't be online for just over a week, because I will be taking in a whole other culture and watching films. That said, I probably won't miss the internet that much, given I will be doing a lot of different things over in Hong Kong.
Sure, I will be online sometimes, like going onto my personal facebook to let my family know I'm okay, or to post pictures on instagram, etc, but honestly, most of that time will be dedicated to being in Hong Kong, not looking at or through my phones camera lens.
So, in short; I'm excited, but I'm scared. Most of all though, I am happy I will get to go to Hong Kong and experience even just a little bit of it, and to take part in a Film Festival, too. Hopefully I will learn a little more about Hong Kong and its culture, and to enjoy every aspect of it.
And, once I come back, I hope to share a part of it here too, even if it is just a few photographs.
Before I go however, I will be posting a regular kind of post. I just wanted to update y'all and let you know that, in the next 9 days, I am not sleeping my days away or wallowing in self pity. I will simply be in Hong Kong, enjoying my time and taking in all I can along the way.
Until I return, please take care and love the life you live!
Much Love,
Chiima~
I hope you enjoy the trip. Traveling abroad is always exciting, but the uncertainty of being in a foreign place is understandable. But as you are going as part of a school program they most likely have things in place to steer you straight so you won't have too much trouble.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, Hong Kong! That's really close to where I am (Taiwan). Hope you are enjoying your stay :D
