Okay! Musume Digest #93

DISCLAIMER:
This Digest may not contain an Idol group that you like, or that you follow. If this post does not contain an Idol group you yourself actively follow, then my deepest apologies, but I cannot follow each and every Idol group on the planet. I am one person, and whilst I do post about groups that I like as well as groups that I barely even follow (read: BABYMETAL) that does not mean I will also actively look for news on the Idols you may follow. If I do not have the resources, I will not be able to post much or anything about them. Please respect this, as I don't have the time to go scouring across the internet for Idols that I know next to nothing about, or that I have little to no resources to. Again, I am ONE person; if I had a team behind me it would be a lot easier, however this is something that I do for me, in my own free time, because I want to. I could just as easily not do this, however I do it because I want to, and I find it fun. Thank you.

This Week, in Idol News...

FC Bus Tours! Cover for Airi's newest photobook revealed! Sayumi to MC the MTV VMAJ Awards! Yuko's graduation is on hold!? AKB48 sing about Labradors? Country Musume Auditions to be extended! Oha Girl Chu! Chu! Chu! have graduated! Predia introduces a new member! AND MORE!!! Are you ready to Digest?

Contrary to what I said in that random post made on April 1st, no, the Digest is not closing. I want to formerly apologise to everyone regarding that post, because it really was cruel I think, however I wanted something shocking as my April Fools. Originally I did intend for a banner change, possibly a little joke about how I am turning to G-Dragon or something, however due to recent feelings that surfaced, I wanted something that I could do that actually withheld a bit of truth in it.

That's why it's cruel; because the April Fools I did actually had a lot of truth in it, it contained the thoughts of when I did think of closing my Digest. So, whatever I wrote in that post, it was all things that I thought or felt previously (including the parts about me being useless and such) or at some point since I started this Digest series. Of course, given it was uploaded on April 1st, you all know it was used as a prank of sorts, and I am happy to say that the Digest is here to stay! Or at least, for now ;)

All said and done, when I received the comments regarding my Digest and the possible closure (and also those wondering if it was real or an April Fools joke) I felt really overwhelmed with support from everyone. I wondered what the comments would be like, if I were to get any, but to see that everyone was supportive of the decision made me happy, so thank you everyone. I really appreciate it, and it made me want to continue the Digest even more thanks to your words. My desire to pursue the Digest now is thanks to everyone here, and I truly value your support and your amazing words.

And now, we shall continue on with the Digest! Thank you for reading, and thank you for being a part of it! Please read on and, of course, enjoy!

Video of the Week

Aa, Subarashiki Hibi yo by Sato no Akari

Otherwise known as that really pretty song whose title I cannot remember for the life of me. Still, regardless of the annoying title and my lack of care to remember it, this truly is a pretty song... if you ignore how grating Rina's voice sounds during the live sometimes. Not that Rina is a bad singer, cos she sin't, her vocals just irritate me a little. A lot. Quite a bit. Still... pretty song! I love the girls used for the song, they all suit it splendidly! Especially Squeaky Masaki. And Akari, bless her. Girl is still rough around the edges, but she's a trouper! She's improving greatly and has a sweet, calming voice that hits the heart strings I think. Again, a bit rough like sand, but she's just so darned loveable!

This song feels like a proper country tune, or at least a proper Japanese country tune. It's so gentle and refreshing, and so... well, it reminds me of a Campfire song. Wanna sit by the campfire making smores or whatever and singing tunes? GIMME MY GUITAR!!!

AKS

(Top Row: Type A, Type B Bottom Row: Type C, Type D PLAYBUTTON ver.)

The jacket covers for Not Yet's up-coming first album, already, have been revealed! There will be four editions available, and both Type A and B will include videos of PV's and special footage from live events or interviews of the members commenting on their thoughts regarding the group.

The album is set for release on April 23rd.

Comments:

The covers feel like a form of celebration, a way of 'reaching an end that was not obtainable before'. Looking at these covers, to me, feels like the end of Not yet. Already, they have come to this point... it's too soon ;________;

Please, say it ain't so!!!

AKB48

To commemorate her graduation from AKB48 and the past 8 years she has been a part of the group, Oshima Yuko will release a commemorative stamp set titled AKB48 Oshima Yuko Sotsugyou Kinen Frame Kitte Set.

The stamps will include images of Yuko since her stage debut in 2006, with one picture hand picked by Yuko herself to represent each year she has been a part of the group. There will be a total of 10 stamp sheets bundled into a specially made folder, which will also include graduation messages from Yuko as well as ten post cards.

Comments:

It's great to see that Yuko is producing something that is a bit different to the typical photo's and handtowels, however it's a tad... expensive...

Then again, sending things off in general is expensive these days, especially Idols end-offs!!!

Ba-dum-tss... -Chiima made a funny, not-

On March 30th, AKB48's concert at National Olympic Stadium was cancelled due to stormy weather.

The event would have been Oshima Yuko's graduation ceremony, however it was later announced that she would instead graduate at Ajinomoto Stadium, Tokyo, on June 8th, a day after the Senbatsu election results takes place in the same venue.

Oshima Yuko's final performance in the AKB48 Theatre will be on June 2nd.

Comments:

I find it weird how Yuko will have her final public performance after her last Theatre performance, because typically a member of the 48's leaves the public as a performer before she leaves the stage she debuted on... Oh well, I guess it's sentimental in a way that she leaves the group after Senbatsu elections, too. This way, she is there to see someone new take the crown, and she can congratulate them. It will be sweet.

AKB48's 36th single has been titled Labrador Retriever, and will see Watanabe Mayu as its centre! The single will also feature 36 girls as its Senbatsu for the title track! The single will be released on May 21st.

There will be five editions available; Type A, Type K, Type B, Type 4 and Theatre edition. In total, nine varieties of the single will be available in either Regular, Limited or Theatre editions.

The single will include a voting ticket for the up-coming Senbatsu General Elections, to be held on June 7th.

The track list is also available via the source!

Comments:

... Yeah, I kinda gathered that the centre spot would be given to Mayu. I guess when she didn't win last year, they thought to themselves 'Better shove her right up front next time, then!' and that they did!

Urgh, I dread the Senbatsu election resukts this year... I don't want Mayu as #1... >____>

And yes, I actually do like her. I just don't think she would suit as the centre of one entire group, though this PV/song may prove me wrong, who knows?

Nogizaka46

It has been revealed that Shinuchi Mai, a second generation member of Nogizaka46, will be active as an 'Office Lady (OL) Idol' . After graduating from college this spring, she decided to continue her activities as an Idol whilst also entering the work force this month.

Comments:

Many congratulations to Shinuchi Mai on entering the work force and deciding to become a valuable worker in society as well as an Idol, entertaining fans and creating happiness! I hope that you work hard and create many smiles for those around you!

Misc Idols and Groups News

On March 30th, Sakura Gakuin members Horiuchi Marina, Iida Raura, Sugisaki Nene and Satou Hinata all graduated from the group during their public graduation ceremony.

The girls, who have now entered High school, have decided to continue their activities in the entertainment industry aside from Sugisaki Nene, who will retire to focus on becoming a nurse.

Comments:

Good lord, four girls!? Still, I know Sakura Gakuin's rule; once you're old, we don't want you! Okay, that's a joke, but I do think their rule is quite good - at the age of 15, girls may not want to be entertainers any more, much like Sugisaki in this case, so whilst it is sad these girls have graduated, they are going to make their own minds up on what they want to do now. Given that three of them are still hoping to be entertainers, we'll see more of them in the future.

Good luck to all the girls, and congratulations on successfully graduating! Omedetou!

On March 31st, Oha Girl Chu! Chu! Chu! graduated from Oha Star after two years together. The group, formed in April 2012, has been one of the longest running Oha groups on the show aside from Oha Girl Candy Mint, and have released the most singles and the very first Oha Girl album.

After two successful years, the girls have now successfully graduated from the show as Oha Girls. Congratulations!

Comments:

Nooooo ;_________; Nooooo, not Chu! Chu! Chu!!! They may have not had the most talent when they originally debuted (understatement of the century, they had no talent) but they grew and grew, and they proved to be one of the most loveable, talented groups Oha Star has seen in a while! It is sad to see them go, because they've really made a statement as Oha Girls, but I know that for Oha Star, the show must go on, and the girls must be changed to give other kids a chance at becoming Oha Girls.

I will miss Oha Girl Chu! Chu! Chu! a lot, because they were special and amazing and just so wonderful. Goodbye girl, and good luck! May the future be bright for you... ;_____;

In addition to the news that Oha Girl Chu! Chu! Chu! has graduated, it seems to have also been reported that models Kawanabe Syrui (12), winner of the 2nd JUNON produce Girls CONTEST, and Hirata Airi (13) of the agency Girls☆Stage will both become regulars on the popular childrens show! The two girls will become assistants and presenters on the show just like their predecessors were.

From what the articles say, their first appearance is set for April 7th.

Comments:

Okay, look at these cuties! Just... wow, look at them! I'm unsure whether or not these girls will become a new Oha unit right now, I know that Oha Suta sometimes has girls there just to assist, but regardless this is great for these two girls to become Oha Girls and present, assist and basically just charm the audience!

Well done to these two girls! I hope the audience falls for you quickly!!!

Dempagumi.inc have revealed their 15 x 30 second CM's for cupnoodle! The CM features both Wota and Dempagumi.inc whilst explaining how Japan still have Samurai, just in a more modern setting.

Check it out and have a giggle!

Comments:

This. Is. GENIUS!!! I just thought this was a fun, wonderful way of showing off the Wota community and their 'Masters'! XD It is seriously fun to watch, and I suggest you check it out.

It also makes me want Noodles. Luckily we have some!!!

(Top Row: Type A, Type B Bottom Row: Type C)

The covers for palet's up-coming single, Keep on Lovin' You, have been revealed! Three editions are available, with Type B showing off a cover drawn by popular Managaka Ikeyamada GO! The single is set for release on April 23rd.

Comments:

... Rather disappointed that Ikeyamada GO drew a cover... it's rather horrid of me to say that to be honest, but I was all like '... for THIS group!? Seriously!?' when I first saw it. Then again, I'm a cow XD

Whatever, at least the costumes are adorable as heck.

Shiina Pikarin, a cute model-turned-Idol, has revealed that she will be releasing her very first min0-album on May 21st! The album, titled Shikkoku no Yami no Somarishi Utagoe ga Kisama nimo Kikoeruka... will feature 8 tracks of moe-pop songs, including new songs such as Real Ria-ju as well as past single songs.

Comments:

FINALLY! Finally I have some more Pikarin and craziness in my life!!! ; A; Oh gosh, darling, save me from this Kyary-mad world!!! SAAVE ME AND TAKE ME TO HELL!!!! D8

It has been announced that 9nine's popular member and actress Kawashima Umika will enter the world of variety as an MC for TBS' variety programme, I am Bouken Shounen, set to start on April 23rd at 11:53pm.

The Idol will host alongside Okamura Takashi of Ninety-nine and Tanaka Naoki of Cocorico. The show follows the concept of discovering mysterious natural phenomenons, living things and rare ingredients, with the three hosts exploring various things/subjects from a scientific viewpoint.

Umika commented on her step into the variety world;
"I'm pretty nervous. Variety is an unknown world to me, but I hope to enjoy it while learning many things,"
"I may rely on and trouble Okamura-san and Tanaka-san, but I will do the best I can in my way." - Kawashima Umika (Tokyohive Translation)
Comments:

I don't pay much attention to 9nine now (mores the pity I suppose) but when I saw this news I couldn't help but feel really happy for Umika! I know she mostly does acting alongside her activities as a member of 9nine, but to see that she is stepping into unfamiliar territory and trying her hand at variety is refreshing and will certainly give her more experience.

I hope that she really enjoys this line of work, and that she proves good at it too!

On March 30th Predia revealed their newest member, Maeda Yuu. Maeda is a model under Platinum Production, and she is 24 years old.

Furthermore, the groups major debut single will be released this August under Nippon Crown.

Comments:

Boy, she is pretty! I just want to pet her and give her some hugs!

PV/Song Previews

THE Possible have revealed the short music video for their up-coming single, Yuuki Superball! Get the refreshing feeling of Summer in this bikini-clad preview! LET'S HIT THE BEACH!

Comments:

There be lotsa boob squishing from what I can see... I wanna go to the beach too. And eat DOUGHNUTS!!!

The trailer for Not Yet's up-coming album, already, has been revealed! Check it out for previews of songs and videos within the long-awaited album from the fun group!

Comments:

Given that Yuko is graduating... is already the final release of this group? I mean, I can understand the title if that is actually the case, because 'already' could indicate so many things, like 'are we already at this point?' or 'are we already done?' or even 'are we already at the point where we have become good?' because Not Yet was formed for the fact that they weren't quite there in terms of their skills, right?

This title makes me think... XD

The short music video for palet's up-coming second single, titled Keep on Lovin' You, has been unveiled! Are you ready for a cute song and a skyline view?

Comments:

Surprisingly, this dull-as-dirt group have intrigued me with this cute song! Also, that skyline... I can't resist it! ;O; Their vocals are terrible though XD Or at least the first girl who opens the song has a flat, bland voice... either way, whatever, I like the sound of it and the look of the video is appealing.

... I hate it when Idols I swear to dislike produce something I like... >o>
