Are You Ready for a DokiDoki Typhoon? - Weather Girls 'Koi no Tenki Yohou' PV Review!

All thoughts and opinions regarding a group, their PV and their songs are all my own thoughts and no one else's. If you don't like how I think, just remember that no one has to like what I say! Opinions will ALWAYS be different, no matter who you are! No two opinions are the same, no matter how similar they may seem! Wheee~

Oh my, oh my, oh my Gosh!

I've been waiting for this, heck, I've actually been anticipating it since I heard that these girls would debut. A Taiwanese girl group, with all the girls originally being Weather Girls for a TV station, making their Idol debut in Japan... yeah, of course I was excited, because they are from the same country as darling Show Luo and Rainie Yang. Nice.

And here it is. Their debut PV, titled Koi no Tenki Yohou, is finally here for us all to watch and take in! But really, what do people think of it?

Some like it, some love it, others will hate it. Whatever you think, it is really up to you. Personally, I'm okay with it. The PV, that is. The song is a totally different matter.

Anyway, I need to get the pic spam over and done with before I talk about these girls more, so let's get ready for a mini typhoon of pictures! Prepare yourselves!

... Already, there is too much pink. But it's cute, no denying that.

We have received confirmation that they are now... The Waiter Girls!

It's really cute how the voice-over guy can't pronounce 'Weather'. It adds that element of 'D'awwwww'.

Loving the darkness of it before we actually get into the song. The silhouettes look pretty cool.

... More pink? Really now?

IT'S SO BRIGHT!!!!!!!!

Oh than gawd, we have some sanity in this MV that isn't made up of pink and cuteness. Ah, relief...

Short-cut Girl: "This is how I bitch slap back in the Hood."

... Aaaaaand the pink is back!

Ponytail may become my favourite, she just seems... cute xD

Girl: "Bitches, get in the back!"

Single file, ladies! SINGLE FILE I SAID!

Is it just me, or are those dresses too short and skimpy?

... Or maybe these girls are just very, erm... leggy.

How cute, but you look too old to pull of the 'kawaii' look.

OKAY, YOU'RE HIRED! I mean my favourite... seriously, anyone who can do a Kawaii wink is wonderful! You go, Ponytail!

... I don't like Pigtails' hair styled like that, it looks like a hot mess.

Manager: "We are sorry to say this, but you have not made it as Chiima's favourite."

It's so hard breaking the news to poor unfortunate souls Idols who never become a favourite );

Main Girl: "Don't worry, the Wota's will dig you."
Sad Girl: "Bitch, can't you see I don't like you?"
Pigtails: "Ehe~ CHOU KAWAII!"

I've seen the office set up in some of their Weather forecasts, must be one of the more popular ones? Also, love the clouds on the desks.

Weather Girls: "STOP THE FORECAST!"
Long Haired Girl: "NEVER!"

Lovin' the shredded soccer outfits! Very Oh! inspired.

Okay, this got me! Lovin' it~

And today's forecast: Sunny, with a high chance of Frosty bitches in your area.

DAMNI those legs!

Shot-cut: "I can't play soccer, there's a plastic thunder cloud over my head, gussun~" -cries-

Short-cut: "What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck..."
Pony: "Pyuuuu~n"

And Ponytail saves the day! I like you more and more! Kawaii!

THE HEART GAVE BIRTH!!! OH MY GOSH!

Those legs... seriously, it is so weird seeing tall Idols because Jpop girls are freakin' MIDGETS!!! Can't get enough of them LEGS <3

Yup... legs all the way <3

And... eject! Weather Forecast for today: Over!

Okay guys, review time! If I make no sense during this part, bear with me because I am ill and tired from being ill, so sorry if I am less than understandable for today! I just wanted to update with reviews and get my butt into gear >3<

So... Weather Girls, eh? Why isn't it raining men? Joke joke xD

I've been anticipating the entire song for a while, and the PV less so, and it's nice to finally see the entire thing, though it's incredibly short for a PV in my eyes, but for the 3 minutes and 30 seconds you get, there is enough crammed in there to entertain you and keep you occupied as you watch it, and for sure, you won't get bored of it. The scenes change enough and there are different costumes to suit your tastes, so a good amount of variety in one little PV!

We also get a nice amount of scene changes, such as the sickly, eye-catching pink dance scenes with lights randomly going off every which way, the simple soccer-costume based shots, an office shot and the girls in school girl uniforms, too... though most of these girls don't look like school girls any more, but oh well, it's the appeal, not the age, that matters, right?

Before I get into anything, the K-pop influence in this video is really high - from the video to the song, I can see that influence, and whilst I may not be a big fan of K-pop myself, I do like how the girls took it and how catchy the song became. That K-pop sound really is nice, and it works with the girls themselves. It might actually encourage me to listen to some K-pop...

... NAH!

The entire PV is actually really cute, and whilst the eye sore pink scenes aren't particularly my favourite, I do like the outfits and the dance as well. These girls are actually quite good at dancing, which surprised me, and seem to have practised a lot for their debut. They all look great, and I love the amount of appeal they have in the video - not just by the way they look, but by how they act and present themselves in front of the camera. These girls are extremely charismatic and it really shows. Oh, and they have that much needed group chemistry, too. They are all just really enjoyable to watch in the video, and whilst the video isn't exactly one of my favourites, I think that it's a really nice debut for the girls and it really shows off what they are about: Weather girls who appeal with costumes and scenarios that they have to play up to, and they used those scenarios well.

Also... I can't get enough of how tall they all are! Seriously, I've been watching short little Idols for too long! I didn't realise how weird it was to see someone tall in a music video until I watched this one, but... those legs! I am bala-ba-ba-baaaa... I'm loving it!

The thing I like the most, though, just has to be the song - Oh my gosh, it's incredibly catchy! I can't get enough of it! The song is infectious, it just drills itself into your head straight away. That quirky poppy tune is enough to make me like the song, but the girls are also a part of the reason why I like it too. They all sound great, and they also look/sound like they really enjoy singing this song! It has a nice cuteness to the sound, and it just makes me feel really happy and energetic. I love singing along to it... ah, it's incredibly easy to sing to! Those little 'Ioh my Gosh's' are really easy to follow, and you may just find yourself singing along to these girls and even practising their cute little dance moves as well.

I'm really digging the song and PV right now. It's enjoyable and incredibly catchy! I can't help but like it a lot, and for a debut, this is a pretty darned good start for the girls as Idols. Hopefully they will continue producing music in Japan, and maybe even have their Taiwanese debut, who knows? I love how they all sound, the look they have and the concept they were created from. Weather Girls are pretty good already, and I can see them getting even better the more they work on their Japanese pronunciation. If they keep up what they are doing and continue to appeal to the Japanese public, these girls may go pretty far... I say may, because this is still their debut period.

I can't wait to see what else they bring out. Maybe a doll based PV? I want a doll based PV! >__<

Okay! Musume Digest #19

Another week over means another day of News Digest! Okay! DIGEST TAIMU!

I finally have a day off, from work and life, which means that I have actually had a nice day of paying attention to my blog as opposed to coming home tired and wanting sleep... Actually, I am also ill with Chiima Flu, but that came about on Sunday and it seems the worst of it was through Monday. Tomorrow, I go back to life by helping out on a small production by helping with call sheets, and then Thursday is College again. Whee...

I hate having a life xD Actually, I don't, but it hinders my time with my blog and you guys, so it can get frustrating... D;

Anyway, life problems out of the way, how have you all been? I've been good, so good I made a new banner...

It's far from great, but I really wanted something which showed my preference for Dream5 as of late xD One song and I am hooked! These guys are so refreshing, and I love the energy in Shekimeki as well as the group chemistry. When you get a chance, go and check it out guys. It's worth the watch, and worth the banner and background change.

... Though Haruna love is still there, and if Zukkini and Eripon had different poses, they would have been on there too xD

Also, picture of The Week!

Epic Zukkini is epic... so, what animal is this? The worm, the Catipllar? Who knows! xD

Eripon doesn't even want to know... x3

Let's see if Blogger is still a douche. It hasn't allowed my gifs to work lately );

ALSO, POLL TIME! And it's to do with Dream5, of course ;D

Question of the Week is this...

Who is your Dream5 Oshi?

I anticipate Akira's VICTORY!!!!!... xD

And now, onto more important matters, such as the much anticipated (lol whut?)...

NEWS OF THE WEEK

This weeks Hello! SATOYMAMA Life is brought to you by Dailymotion!

Late audition footage is finally here! You know, the footage we all wanted to see, but never got to see? Yeah, well, it's here. Nice way to bring it forth, UFP - you guys reallllly know how to amp up the anticipation, don't you?

... And that's all! Other than little clips of the recent Morning Musume concert tour, we get the much-anticipated audition footage that we never were able to see before the 11th gen winner was announced! So HURRAH! Great timing, UFP. You suck xD

Anyway, guys, watch it for the sake of the auditions! Obviously this is UFP promoting the heck out of Oda Sakura now, because she won't be active until who knows when XD

Wada Ayaka has sprained her right ankle during a concert, and will be required to rest for 2-3 weeks. During concerts she will take part in singing and MC's, but will not be a part of the dances.

It seems that a lot of Hello! Project members are injuring themselves as of late, and it's sad news when the girls hurt themselves and can't take part fully in a concert. I was quite sad at this news, regardless of how I feel towards Dawa, and I hope that she gets better soon and will be back to dancing for her group and her fans!

Fukumura Mizuki and Iikubo Haruna will hold a birthday FC event on November 9th. Ishida Ayumi will also be present.

FC events, especially for birthdays, are quite common, but it's exciting when you hear about them regardless. I am quite excited by these two being put together, especially since the FC event is titled High school Students. NIGHT! because the two of them are currently the oldest in Morning Musume out of all the new members. Also, these two birthdays mark special ages, with Fukumura turning 16 and Iikubo turning 18 (which is important for us Brits!). It's also great to know that Ishida, also a high school student, will be present during the event to celebrate with Mizupon and Chokubo.

Hopefully the event will be filled with plenty of games and songs and lots of ChokuPon love!

Kikkawa Yuu now has an official website!

... I already thought she had one? Well, either way, this is good news because websites = ways to get information on any events or updates that may appear that we don't know of. Anyway, I really don't have anything to say other than... YAY WEBSITES! -does Wota dance-

Source

Speaking of websites and having nothing to say...
-coughIwillhavestufftosay,cosIactuallycareaboutthisone-

Morning Musume have opened up a website for their 51st single, Wakuteke Taka a chance!. The website includes Oda Sakura's profile, information on the girls, CD versions and even the youtube videos.

Oh lord, are UFA PROMOTING AGAIN? The world is really going to end in 2012, isn't it, because UFA seem to give a shit about Hello! Project now and their popularity ranks in the Idol world. But yeah... promotion, guys, more promotion! And a new website, which is always cool, and I am liking the cool look, and they used the Limited A type style cover as the header which happened to be my favourite, though Reg. edition is cool too.

Check it out!

Tanaka Reina will hold a birthday FC event on November 12th.

One Question: ... Will it include a ritual burning of those horrible cat ears?

C-ute's up-coming Best of Album, ② C-ute Shinsei Naru Best Album, will be available in three editions, a Regular, Limited A and Limited B. Limited A + B include a PV (LA) or Documentary/Interview (LB), whilst the Regular will include a random trading card.

Here is the Track List:

  • Massara Blue Jeans (new arrangement/vocals)
  • Ooki na Ai de Motenashite (new arrangement/vocals)
  • Wakkyanai (Z) (new arrangement/vocals)
  • Time Capsule (new arrangement/vocals)
  • Sakura Chirari (new vocals)
  • JUMP (new vocals)
  • Tokaikko Junjou (new vocals)
  • LALALA Shiawase no Uta (new vocals)
  • Namida no Iro (new arrangement/vocals)
  • Edo no Temari Uta II (new arrangement/vocals)
  • Seishun Song (new vocals)
  • Dance de Bakoon!
  • Kiss me Aishiteru
  • Sekai Ichi HAPPY na Onna no Ko
  • Kimi wa Jitensha Watashi wa Densha de Kitaku
  • New song
Seeing the track list for this album makes me excited, because I can see favourites in there already which everyone will know and love, including my favourite C-ute song JUMP. We have happy, genki songs and new cool songs which show the maturity of C-ute. It's an album filled with old and new songs which show the gradual change within the group from a youthful, fresh group who were childish and carefree, to a group which is mature and cool. I'm also liking the 'new arrangement' that we will get to hear with these songs, it will be great to see how they differ with different leads!

PLEASE give Sakura Chirari to Mai and Nakky, considering their voices will suit the squeak...

Anyway, I am looking forward to the album!

Michishige Sayumi and Tanaka Reina have been individually featured on of Taiwan's Weekly Famitsu!

Magazine covers are always great ways to promote a certain group or girl, but I haven't yet seen a magazine produce two copies with different members on the front... well, until now that is. It's great to see that the older girls of MoMusu are gracing covers together in a different way, promoting themselves and their group. Easily the most recognisable and more popular members, it's a given that these two would be chosen.

Looking good, girls, though the cat ears need to be burned during that ritual, Reinyan...

A 'Type 0' of The Matenrou Show (Song and MV) will be included on Petit Best 13, released December 5th and will feature Takahashi Ai, Niigaki Risa, Michishige Sayumi, Tanaka Reina and Mitsui Aika.

... Excuse me whilst I go and scream out of pure f***ing HAPPINESS!!!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH YES!!!! YES YES YES!!!

UFA, YOU ARE AWESOME RIGHT NOW! OMG YES! YES!

Now all it needs is EPIC line distribution and we are all set! OMGURD this is great news, I didn't think that we would get an OG version of this when I saw it on that Pachinko advert, but we are! Oh lord Gaki, guys, this is amazing news!

...

Who else is excited?

A radio rip for 9nine's coupling song to Yi Er! Jiang Shi feat. Hao Hao! Jiang Shi Girl, titled BRAVE has been released.

This song is the complete opposite to the A-side, which is energetic and happy and a little crazy in its own way, whilst this is quite cool and pretty calming to listen to. It allows the girls to use soft voices and express themselves differently. The song is actually really pretty, and will probably become my favourite out of the two songs present. It's really nice to listen to, and it's great to hear it in good quality!

Hopefully everyone can check it out and see what they think of the song!

Naaboudoufu@Nana will be releasing her second single, titled Magical Lip KISS on November 7th. The jacket covers of the single as well as additional information has also been released. Tsunku, creator of Morning Musume and various other Hello! Project groups, has come back to write both the title and coupling track for the single!

Okay, so I'm happy! This is incredible news for me because I enjoyed Nana's first single, so to know that she will get a second single (with cute covers, too) makes me even more excited! Big chance the single will have that usual Tsunku flair to it, but I am more so excited for the DVD, which will contain a PV, a dance version and a cosplay version... COSPLAY VERSION, GUYS! The cosplay version includes a Maid costumes (FUCK YEAH, MAID COSTUMES), A swimsuit, a Santa outfit and a police uniform...

Ooh, fetishy xD

This looks fun... xD

A short radio preview for YuiKaori's up-coming single's coupling song, Yubikiri Calender, has been released.

The song is really calm and slightly Christmassy from what I can hear. It's a gentle song, one which really compliments the voices of both Yui and Kaori (screw you, RAISE!) . It's simple and sweet, and really fits the image of a calm Christmas. The song is cute, and I like it. What more can I say? x3

Up-Front Agency have changed their name to Up-Front Promotion.

... Excuse me whilst I go bust out laughing and die from this joke. Thanks~

Hello! Project Kenshyuusei member Otsuka Aina will be absent from the S/mileage concert tour until November 10th due to left knee ligament damage.

Another injury? UFP, what do you do to these girls, seriously? The amount of causalities that these poor idols go through is a lot right now, it seems, and with one S/mileage down and Aina out of the same tour, it's a little worrying... Okay, I kid, UFP do nothing, but this news is always sad because you never want your Idol to get injured.

All we can do is hope that the poor girl gets better soon and is ready to dance and sing again! Get well soon Aina-chuu!

And that will be all for this week my lovelies! Another week of news rounded up and turned into a digest, all for your convenience! I hope the week has been pleasant for you all, and don't catch the Chiima Flu! Advice done and dusted x3

(PS I'm hyper x3 If you can't tell already guys ;D)

When Morning Musume Flops and Chiima Takes a Chance to Hate - Morning Musume's 'Wakuteke Take a chance' PV Rant

All thoughts and opinions on this group, their songs and PV are entirely my own and no one else's. Please think how you want about something, but don't expect others to feel the same. How an individual feels may bring insight to things you didn't see before, whether they are good or bad insights. If I am positive or negative, take what I say with a grain of rice (or something) and add it to your own opinion and let's see where we go from there. You can dislike what I say, or you can like what I say. Whatever YOU think, it is up to you!

... -packs bags and runs off to Dream5 land-

I've been holding off on this review, mostly due to a busy lifestyle, the fact that I haven't had time to write on this blog, and also because really, let's be brutally honest here, the PV did not impress me in the least.

... And I find that a little sad (for myself) that I have come to the conclusion that I don't care about a PV for a song I actually quite like.

I guess it's to be expected now though, that UFA (oops, I meant UFP, cos y'know, they actually promote now) will continue to churn out shitty PV's filled with effects and nothing else, because it's the direction that Morning Musume is currently going in: The Robotic Era. Oh boy, sparkles and auto-tune, here we come...

I'm not excited for this era, as you can see. I was all for the Pyoko/Creative era, but nope, Robo era here we are...

Now, I actually love this song - it's a great song! It's catchy, fun and a pleasure to listen to, something which One Two Three wasn't when I first heard, and I was genuinely surprised by how much I came to adore this song after my major hate for the previous single and the horrible auto-tune that came with it. So, of course, I was really anticipating the PV for this great song!

... Hi, UFP. Thanks for Fucking that one up. You should really be called Up Fucked Promotion.

They all look bored, they all look stiff and soulless...
The PV is such a downfall since the creative Pyoko Pyoko Ultra came out, and judge me you may, but that song and video had a real creative flare to it which actually surprised me and won me over a lot, which is why I love it so much. Sadly, it has also been the only real creative video to come out of UFP's ass since Takahashi Ai's graduation, and Kono/Kare to were only creative because Ai took creative control and made those songs awesome, even with all the CGI glory.

That, and the fact that there is little to no group chemistry in this PV at all. Actually, I haven't seen group chemistry since Pyoko, where we actually see people interact with each other. Nice fuck-up there, UFP. You made this PV lame.

Ayumin, in all her crippled glory, looks pretty stunning. Baby Predator, I miss your scary face sometimes.
Okay, so I watched this PV for the first time with my sister, and even recorded a reaction video - that video will soon be deleted, and will never make its way to youtube because honestly? There was no reaction. I was just utterly bored by it, and extremely disappointed. Such a cool song, one which had an amazing choreography to go with it, was totally destroyed by the PV and how lazy it was. Screw the fact that the bloody effects 'cost money' - those effects are what cost this PV a chance at being epic.

I mean, the UV lights were pretty good, so why not keep those and use no effects? There's just too much going on, with so many lights, sparkles and the light things during the dance shot of the MV. It's almost too much, really. Then again, even the UV lights don't work well for this video because they wash the girls out, especially Masaki, who looks less than appealing in this video... and that girl is darned cute! How the hell can you wash out Masakissu, you dicks?

Zukkini looks stunning in this, too bad she's still getting shafted
Honestly, it's almost like UFP are throwing the effects around because they are trying to cover up the lack of group chemistry this group has now that Gaki has gone...

Oh wait... that's exactly what they are doing!

The sad thing about this PV, other than the lack of group chemistry and the stupid amount of ugly effects thrown into it, is the fact that Ayumin isn't a part of the dance shot... which may be the reason why this PV is only temporary, but yeah, it's sad. Ayumin loves dancing, there's no denying it - she loves it more than RiDOS does, and is a better dancer than her too, but it was sad to realise she wasn't a part of the dance. Poor Ayumin, poor Baby Predator. Hopefully the real version of this MV will include her dancing, and also have less of the hideous sparkles and effects, too...

Haruna will eat your souls if you keep using these stupid effects, UFP
It's just so... messy! This is probably one of the PV's I will want to totally avoid at all costs if I can, because I just find nothing in this video appealing other than the girls themselves during individual shots... and those are the table shots, weirdly enough. That has to be the one interesting scene, other than the fire scene which is totally pointless because it only shows Sayumi and RiDOS in the fire for all the shots that we get of the fire. Why? WHY? UFP, you are a bunch of fucking dicks, you know that?

I have serious issues with UFP, sorry guys! xD

Anyway, this PV doesn't really interest me at all - sure, the individual scenes of the girls sprawled on tables are appealing, but that doesn't make up for the rest of the PV. The crappy costumes, the crappy PV... it doesn't do justice for a great song and a great dance. It just seems like UFP are trying to hide the fact that these girls don't have group chemistry in their videos right now, or they are trying to take on a Perfume concept and are totally failing. Actually, I think that UFP are imitating Perfume, but with a cheaper outlook, because when I saw the video for the first time I thought that Perfume could do this, but better.

Still on the topic of epic songs (we never went to that topic, actually) I would like to point out something which bothered me during the entire MV, and the song. It's come to light that now, Riho and Reina are sounded spookily similar. They have the same tone, that same sound to their voice... and it's pretty clear that UFP are screwing around and making little RiDOS into nothing more than a Reina clone. There were points in the song where I couldn't distinguish either of their voices from each other... and it's the same with Ayumi too, now. She sounds pretty close to RiDOS' shriek, and it's disturbing. UFP, answer me this... are we ever going to get to hear a true, individual voice from a girl rather than a cloned voice with no personality to it whatsoever?

No? Really?... Okay.

To say I am disappointed is an understatement, and honestly, if the real MV comes out with only an edited dance shot, I will be pissed, because these girls can offer so much more than sparkles and UV lights that wash them out. They can be entertaining and charming, they have proven that in not only Pyoko but also Ren'ai Hunter and even The Matenrou Show and One Two Three. You just have to let their personalities shine, and by downplaying them to make money off of this 'cool' Morning Musume with borderline Potato Idol personalities, you won't really get anywhere with the people who actually care about personalities and what not...

Oh wait, I forget. Potato Idols are all the rage, aren't they? Hence why RiDOS is in front. My bad, guys. Ma Bad.

This turned into more of a rant than I wanted it to, but really, I am not a fan of this PV. UFP are just using too many effects now, and it's sad to say that the lack of group chemistry and energy is high in this video and really disappoints me... Actually, I'm being driven towards Dream5 more than ever now thanks to the lack of group chemistry and energy, because that's what I like in groups. Effects don't always grasp people, and neither does UV lights.

A great song and a great dance destroyed by UV lights and sparkles... what a major downfall from the creativity that was Pyoko and what was the cute era of MoMusu from when the 9th gen joined.

... Thank Lord Gaki I can listen to this song without watching the horrible PV.

Chiima~
