In which Chiima battles the heat of the summer with HouPri's latest addition to their song catalogue...

In these trying times of turmoil and uncertainty, Houkago Princess have prepared a brand new song to ignite hope, and bring back your spirit for the summer of 2020. With the strength of Cleopatra embedded in their lyrics, as well as the passion of the members singing these songs, Houkago Princess will bring back the summer heat, and instil hope and liveliness to all who will listen to their music.

Made up of two tracks, the most recent addition to Houkago Princesses discography is also the last for sub-leader Maika, who will be leaving the group after 6 years of activity, and continue to work as a solo artist. With her graduation on the horizon, Shakunetsu no Mystery Eye / Zesse Cleopatra sees Maika and the other members of Houkago Princess transform into the beautiful and strong Cleopatra, the Pharaoh whose legacy is still remembered 3,000 years on.

It's time to tell a story with Houkago Princess once again, but this time we are looking at the history of a desert Queen. Are you ready to step back in time and experience a brilliant summer like no other?

There Is No Violence, Just Cheer in halca's 'Toki Toshite Violence' (Single Review)

After training for five years to become an anisong singer, halca made her major debut in 2018 with the single Kimi no Tonari, a single that contained the ending theme for the Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii anime. Now in 2020, halca has released her fifth single lead by the song Toki Toshite Violence, an upbeat, pop anime theme tune that currently acts as the opening for the second season of Dropkick on My Devil!.

Much like any artist or idol that has never been posted on this blog before, this single is my introduction to the world of halca's music, and ultimately sets the bar for what I expect from here on out. I've binged this release for a few days already, and after finally getting a good feel of the single, the impending question is this: how much do I enjoy halca's Toki Toshite Violence, and is it worth the listen?

Well, that's up to you to decide, but I will do my best to give you a few reasons for why you should (or shouldn't) listen to it. In order to define a story, one must look back at the chapters already written. For Princesses who have come from a long line of royalty before them, it's time to walk down their own path and create their own tales without the help of their Queen, but before they can take those steps they must look back and understand those who stood before them.

Despite being around for 8 years now, Houkago Princess are ready to re-define themselves in Shin Jidai Princess / Princess no Teigi, a single that celebrates their past, present and future in this brand-new era of members!

And boy oh boy, was I excited for this single! After Kaguya ni Negai wo was released I couldn't help but feel ecstatic for what HouPri had up their new billowing sleeves now that a new generation had been introduced. Odagiri Nana is gone, Sekine Sasara is Leader and there are brand-spanking new members, so of course there had to be something amazing ready for the group to properly introduce everyone and showcase what this new lineup had to offer, right?

Well, I was excited for this single - as stated above - but when promotion didn't happen and a PV was never properly released, my confidence in this single waned considerably. I wanted to hear and experience it, but couldn't due to a lack of anything that wasn't a poorly constructed single cover. I wanted to sing along with the lyrics that were posted to the groups official website, but there were no songs to listen to because snippets weren't released, digital uploads were void and a PV wasn't readily available until weeks after the official single release.

It was getting a little frustrating, to say the least, and I was losing some form of hope until - thank the Lords - my friend managed to obtain her copy of the CD, meaning that I could finally sample the songs from this brand new release until my own versions came in the mail. I could finally listen to the songs for HouPri's new era, but was it all worth it?

A month after the single's official release and many listens later, it's time to finally sit down to listen to Shin Jidai Princess / Princess no Teigi, a single that is set to define HouPri's new era as a group. With a new generation, a new leader and a new chapter ready to begin, will this version of Houkago Princess live up to the standards set from past releases, or will it fall as quickly as the hype staff tried to create for this single, only for them to fail miserably with promotion?

Let's define Houkago Princesses latest release and listen to what this new era can deliver. Whether it's good or bad, generic or new, it's time to pass judgement on Shin Jidai Princess / Princess no Teigi in sound, style and tune.

Defining A Decade: First Time Idol Lover - The 10-Year Nostalgia Bomb That Is 'Nanchatte Ren'ai' by Morning Musume (Single Review)

August 12th, 2009 marked the 40th single release for Morning Musume, and with that release came the birth of a fan. 10 years later a lot has changed, with new faces joining the group and older ones leaving. With all these changes and my own love for the group null and void, has the moving melody of Nanchatte Ren'ai been replaced by the bitter tones of dismay, or will the single hold up and bring me back to a better time?

Taking a leap back in time, let's take a look at the song that birthed my fandom and allowed the Platinum Era of Morning Musume to be recognised for the iconic girls that they are today. With style and maturity, will Nanchatte Ren'ai stand the test of time, or will it be left in the dust of the dilapidated building the group danced in so long ago?

Morning Musume need no introduction here, mostly because this group provided a lot of my main content back when I started out blogging. In general though, a lot of people know of Morning Musume, and a lot of people are aware of how great the Platinum Era was. In fact, it's the Platinum Era that created a whole host of new fans, people who loved the group for its maturity, their vocals and the interesting sound that Morning Musume had in plenty of their A-sides. They were cool, they didn't have a kiddish or youthful aura, and their music matched that style and tone. It was an interesting time for the group, and though their fans were far and few between at that point in Morning Musume's career, the Platinum Era has to be one of the most recognised lineups of all time.

2009 was the time I became a fan of Morning Musume, and though my love for the group began when it was closer to the tail-end of the Platinum Era, I can't help but recognise 2009 as a key year for me when it comes to the group itself. This was my starting point with idols I guess, even if it was Koharu who brought me to the attention of Morning Musume. But without this group I probably wouldn't have stayed around for too long. At that point in time, I was still heavily invested in anime and manga and only cared for anisong opening and ending tunes.

The Morning Musume of 2009 looked and felt cool, the vocals were mesmerising and the music spoke to me, I suppose. I didn't understand it, but the way it sounded was something that hooked me. I was only 16 at this point in time, so I was very much a moody teenager transitioning from secondary school to college, and seeing this group in their dark but elegant clothing, the way they sang and the prettiness of their choreography spoke to me. I liked it, and I loved how it contrasted with the typical cutesy, annoyingly generic idol songs that I absolutely adored way back when. 

Morning Musume stood out to me. At that time I hadn't experienced such a powerful, moving song like Nanchatte Ren'ai when it came to Japanese music. So it spoke to me, and after that I became hooked.

And with that memory in place I knew that I had to talk about this single. Nanchatte Ren'ai was essentially my gateway into the idol community, and with its 10 year Anniversary comes my own decade-long experience as an idol fan. Even though it feels like the song was released three years ago at most, Nanchatte Ren'ai is already 10 years old and creating its own landmark. It's unbelievable but true, and now I can't help but feel both nostalgic and overwhelmed. How has it been this long since the singles release?

Now it's time to take a look back at Nanchatte Ren'ai, a song that was released a decade ago. For myself and many others this single was a defining moment in our fandoms, and for plenty of us it was the start of something beautiful. So without further ado, let's pull out that dusty CD player and crack open that ancient CD case containing Nanchatte Ren'ai. It's time to see what defined our fandom one decade ago.

A Theme From Spring - A Look at 'Date Datte' by READY TO KISS (Single Review)

Spring may have passed us by, but READY TO KISS keep the season alive in their most recent single, Date Datte. With four new songs accompanied by their instrumental counterparts, READY TO KISS deliver a whisper of both the vibrant and darker tones that Spring can deliver during its reign.

For their first single of 2019, will Date Datte deliver the tone and style the title creates, or will it leave people desiring more when it comes to sound, vocals and more?

Creative outlets, I have plenty, but my creativity does not always manifest itself in the form of the written word. Whether it is crafting, drawing, brainstorming story ideas or writing out a review, I always fall back on something creative when I need it most. Right now writing is my personal therapy, and for the first time in a long while this blog has become Sanctuary, so I will do my best to make use of this desire to write and review whilst I can.

And hey, let's be honest here; it's not like I've been making use of this space as I should be. I can only hope that I get to some PV Reviews before too long, because I really do miss them.

With that semi-emotional spiel spielled, today's review comes in the form of my latest ear-splitting delight, READY TO KISSES Date Datte, released way back in March of this very year (2019). Featuring eight tracks (including instrumentals), 8 editions and a few squeaky, sub-par vocals, Date Datte will surely deliver an array of sounds for all listeners, and perhaps a few earaches along the way. It depends on how much you can handle in terms of vocal capability, or a lack thereof.

Oof, that is very tongue-in-cheek, isn't it?

Before I go on a mini-rant and lose you completely, let's take a quick History check on the group itself, shall we? Here we go:

Debuting in late 2013, READY TO KISS began their activities with as a 5-member unit under GET CRAZY, with former Houkago Princess members Chiba Sakino, Noda Hitomi, Nagafuji Aoi and Kobayashi Rena - as well as newcomer Ichinose Anju - making up the group in its first phase. The group did not release their first single until January 14th, 2015 however, but were already known amongst underground idol fans for their high-energy performances. In July 2015, READY TO KISS made their major debut under Stand-Up! Records, a subsidary to Universal Music Japan which also housed acts such as Iketeru Hearts, Afilia Saga East and others.

READY TO KISS stayed with Stand-Up! Records throughout 2015, however parted ways with the agency after that. In 2017, the group underwent a major lineup and image change, and had their second major debut under King Records with their second major single (third if you include their indies release). Currently, the group has released six singles as well as a mini-album titled reset.

There are currently 7 members in the group: Chiba Sakino, Uehara Ayuko, Kiyokawa Reina, Amau Kisumi, Sasaki Miho, Makino Hiromi and Harukawa Momona.

And with that all written and overviewed, it's time to get to the review itself. Let's take a little listen, spill a bit of ketchup and crank up that volume (but not by much) because it's time to talk about music, and maybe those vocals as well. Let's discuss, dear readers.

The Sign Is Go! What Can I Do But Say Here We Go! - Morning Musume '17's 'Jama Shinaide Here We Go! / Dokyuu no Go Sign / Wakain da shi!' Single Review!

I was asked by an Anonymous reader if I would be reviewing the latest single release from Morning Musume '17, and now that my Sins Of The Idol series is finally over and done with, I thought to myself 'Yeah, why the heck not', because good grief, this has to be one of the more interesting graduation releases to come out of the group in a while.

It's nice to see that H!P are finally colouring outside of the lines.

Celebrating the debut of Morito Chisaki (14th generation), the 20th Anniversary of Morning Musume, and also the final release for Kudo Haruka (10th generation), Jama Shinaide Here We Go! / Dokyuu no Go Sign / Wakain da shi! has a lot going on, and a lot to live up to. I mean, being the 20th Anniversary release, there will be expectations from a lot of people - like, the expectation that it'll actually be a decent release. Lord knows, the rest haven't been that amazing, if only because they've followed a similar formula and pattern in sound, composition and everything else.

I'm not saying that this single is doing leaps and bounds away from that - it's not - but, it's taking a step forward, at least. I mean, the songs actually sound unique, which is a first.

And bloody Hell, the one I thought was a total non-Tsunku release is by Tsunku. Maybe the Hawaiin air is giving him good vibes, or maybe producing a little magic? Who freakin' knows.

Ahem. Going a little overboard, there. In short, I already know my feelings towards the single, but we're gonna review it, because it's fun to do so, and I like to see how my opinions differ from everyone else. So, with my thoughts in check and my typing hands at the ready, it's time to head into the first release for MoMusu's latest transfer, Morito Chisaki, and the final release to feature Kudo Haruka, before her graduation date this year. And whilst we're at it, let's see if this release is worthy of being the 20th Anniversary release for Morning Musume.

BLAST Away Those Doubts! BLAST Your Ear Plugs Away! It's Time To Experience The Power of Momoiro Clover Z's 'BLAST!' [Single Review}

After reviewing that one MomoClo Z single, Z no Chikai, I seem to have neglected doing the second request that dear Tanera sent me, though honestly, I didn't forget it. I never intended to leave it this long to review the blasted - no pun intended - single, either, but good grief, procrastination happened, and well over a month later, here I am, finally reviewing the bugger.

Welp... at least I didn't leave it to fester, *pretending* to forget it, or refusing to review it, for whatever dumb reason. Because, here I am, ready to review it.

Let's just pray it's better than the trash I had to listen to, last time. Pleas, oh please, let this one be a blast.

Now, that pun was totally meant to be there, but enough with all that. It's time to get into it, and listen to some more MCZ. Prep them ear plugs, guys.

We all know my deal with MCZ. I ignore them, and live happily ever after, a blissful bubble of delight and Idol music that is never infiltrated by whatever they bring out. This is the life I lead, and a life I enjoy, thanks very much. Still, I like that you guys request and suggest stuff; it means I get out of that safe little bubble haven I have made for myself, and it gives me the chance to explore more.

Sometimes, as a blogger, I forget that I need your suggestions as much as I give you suggestions, via my reviews. So, to hear your suggestions, and what you wish for me to review, gives me an idea of what you like, and finally hearing it, why you like it. I may not always agree with your tastes, of course, but that's part of the fun. We get to see why I don't like it, or why I agree with you.

So, basically; feel free to suggest something. I may not get around to it until a later date, of course, cause busy busy, but that doesn't mean I won't give it a chance, either. I'll happily oblige, if I have the time to do so.

In short: I may not care for MomoClo Z like others do, but, I will review them, because I was asked to. Having not heard this single fully (snippets here and there), I can't say much about it right now, so all of my initial opinions will be placed here, as well as some after-thoughts once I've listened to each song more than once. It'll be on a loop, as per the usual, so of course, I hope that I enjoy it.

I mean, I don't exactly care for MCZ, anyway, but I don't want a repeat performance of disappointment with a single of theirs. I am wholeheartedly praying that I like this one, cause I know MCZ do have good music, somewhere in their discography list. I just haven't heard any of it, lately.

So, we're gonna head right on into this, with the hopes that instead of blasting my ears off, it blasts my socks off. Please, please, please be good!

Let's Listen Everyday, But Only If You Wanna - Perfume's 'If you wanna' Single Review!

Well, there has been a n overwhelming (meaning: three) surge of requests for this song. After releasing my Music / MV Selection for the month of August, I found myself with a fair few comments regarding this single, and requesting it for review, to boot.

It's a bit late, but, here it is; a Perfume review you, for If You Wanna, as requested by Anonymous, Violette and Raaaaainboooows. It's happening, you're welcome, sorry for the wait. Life's been hectic.

Time to be entertained... but only if you wanna~

Despite trying my best to follow Idols and Japanese acts as closely as possible, Perfume is one of those few who have never really stood out to me, not because I find them bad or unbearable, but because they just simply don't flit into my radar. I generally don't go out looking for their MV's, or think to find their music, though there will be the odd one or two times where, for some reason, I feel the need to take a look at their latest release. I'm usually impressed, but, it's never been enough to keep me hooked on them.

It's a shame, really. They're a talented trio, and they are entertaining to watch. I just need to find the one. That song and video combo that will hook me forever, and leave me wanting more. Until that happens, however, I will simply have to keep on watching out for them, whenever the desire creeps up on me.

This time, it is less about desire, and more about fulfilling a request. Never a bad thing, mind; it's good to take on other peoples requests to see just why they like it, and to give myself something new to listen to, and potentially find a song that will become my brand new jam. It won't always work out, but, if it does, I'm really thankful, and extremely pleased that it was requested of me. And, given how three people asked about this single review, I can't help but be intrigued, at this point. Is it really that great? Has Perfume come out with something that will blow my proverbial socks off? Well, I bloody hope so, because you've all intrigued me, at this point. Thanks, guys.

So, we;re gonna head right on into this review, with this being the first time that I hear this single in its entirety. I've not played the song, watched the MV, or even dared to preview the instrumental or opening. It will all be brand new to my ears, written from the get-go in my unbiased, unknowing opinion.

The Oath of "Z" no Chikai! - Momoiro Clover Z Single Review!

I've literally titled this 'The Oath of The Oath of "Z"! lol

Let the fandom roar! Dust off those cosplay outfits you've been hiding away until the next convention creeps up, let the excitement surge through you, and get ready for the power to go well over 9000! It's time to begin an adventure, and entertain ourselves with a little bit of Momoiro Clover Z!

It's been a good few years since we last saw them here, but it's time! Will I finally change my mind on this group, and give them the good ol' college try? Or will MCZ continue to fall below my radar, and forever dwell in outer space, where I'm currently keeping them?

Let's review and find out.

Courtesy of Tanera, I will finally be reviewing something Momoiro Clover Z related. It rarely happens here, due to my insistence that I don't care about the group, as well as my stubbornness to actually listen to what they have to offer. I mean, the last time I even talked about them was during my Christmas 2016 posts, and that was only to add their annoying, sugar-cookie Santa-san track for the sake of Christmas joy. So, yeah, it's been a fair while since I last did something MCZ related.

Now, given the fact I don't actually listen to this group a whole lot, I'm going into this a little blind. So far, I've only heard "Z" no Chikai itself, but the coupling tracks are a mystery to me. So, this is a review as I listen kind of deal, and honestly, I'm hoping that my opinions on the remaining tracks differ greatly from the opinion I've already formed on the A-side. You never know; I could come out of this really enjoying MCZ's b-sides, and thinking of them differently. There's always that possibility.

I'll probably still be on the fence, but hey! This could be the review to open me up to the possibility of listening to more of their music, and finally jumping into the Stardust pool. I know quite a few friends who would happily greet me on that side of the fence, and show me what's good and what's moderately tasteful.

SO, after quite a few years (five, actually), I am going to be reviewing some Momoiro Clover Z! And no, I don't want to, but this is a request, and I said I would do it! And who knows? I could come out of this enjoying the single and all it has to offer, and maybe more. So, let's get ready to look at some Momoiro Clover Z, power up, and blast this single at full volume!

The Blooming Sensation of a Smile! - Tsubaki Factory's 'Shuukatsu Sensation / Waratte / Hana Moyou' Single Review!

It's a rising sensation, this feeling of happiness, and I can only hope that it blooms even more as I continue listening to the songs I enjoy most!

WOOHOO, I have internet again! To celebrate, I think it's high-time I reviewed this single, because damn, there's so much about it to love! I know a lot of people are praising this release highly, as well as praising Tsubaki Factory for their talent and charm, and I am one of them! That said, I wasn't anticipating reviewing this one here; I was going to talk about it over on Selective Hearing, however, Balma requested I write about it in a comment, therefore, here it is! A review of Tsubaki Factory's second major single, Shuukatsu Sensation / Waratte / Hana Moyou! Honestly speaking, it's probably best I rave about it here; I doubt I could condense my love for this release on SH! I kinda want to ramble, you know?

I've given away my thoughts already (lol), but I've already expressed my thoughts on the MV's as well, so, I doubt you'd be surprised by whatever I have to say, anyways. Still, it's nice to give my thoughts in full, and express my original feelings on the tracks, and such. Here, I have a chance to look at the single in full, and spell out just what I think.

[℃-utie Week] Before They Fizzle Out Like A Static Shock, Let's Live In This Dream and Experience ℃-ute's Singing Some More! 'Mugen Climax / Ai wa Maru de Seidenki / Singing ~Ano Koro no You ni~' Single Review!

Projects longest standing units before the members graduate and disband to find their own paths in life. Here, the aim is to cherish and appreciate the joy that ℃-ute has brought to us fans, all in the form of reviews and appreciation posts! So, to celebrate ℃-ute in all their glory before they go, let's look back at some of their releases, and enjoy all that made us love this wonderful group, and think back to why we became fans in the first place. Before the departure of ℃-ute falls upon us, let's enjoy the little time we have left with them, and fall in love all over again!

We are coming to a close on our Week with ℃-ute, but please, do not fret! We still have one more post after this one, and then a collection of Graduation Appreciation posts to look forward to! It is extremely sad, however, to know that the group and their activities will soon come to a close. Until that day happens, however, let's enjoy the small time we have left with them, and listen to the beautiful music they have released.

I was originally going to make my penultimate post a PV Review, dedicated to Singing ~Ano Koro no You ni~, however after asking the advice of a friend, she deemed the MV too boring, and thought it best to review the single. After some thought on it, actually, I do think it is better to review the single; it's the perfect combination of ℃-utew's music style, showing off their strengths in maturity, playfulness, and nostalgia. Plus, it's their penultimate release before they disband. How could I pass up reviewing the penultimate single, for the penultimate review?

I've actually wanted to review this single, and all of its music videos, for some time now. Though I have only reviewed Mugen Climax, this was one of few releases from H!P where I felt a strong desire to look at each music video individually, and talk about them. I love them all, find them to be great quality, and damn, they all manage to fit their respective songs beautifully! But, because time is precious, and I have little of it left, I will instead focus on the music, and share with you my thoughts on the penultimate release from ℃-ute before they disband and leave our beloved Idol world.

Though we aren't looking back very far, it will still be a bittersweet tone of nostalgia that we are entering today. Before they leave us as suddenly as a static shock, let's enjoy the beauty of ℃-ute's songs, just like we did in the old days!

The celebration that is ℃-utie Week continues, and today in our fifth Review, we look back to 2015, a year of Decade Anniversaries and music! Much like the years prior, ℃-ute continued to show their passion and drive in each new song release they came out with, but this time, they brought out something a little more sentimental to commemorate 10 years together! It's a year fans will remember well, and a music release that many have loved, because it's just so wonderful and addictive!

It's time to turn the next corner, and experience a reckless life through music! Are you ready to get lost in the sound of ℃-ute?

With ℃-ute's 10th Anniversary on the horizon in 2015, the group brought out their celebratory single, and amazed fans all over. It became an instant hit, and is the groups best first day sales release since Tokai no Hitorigurashi. Even now, this is a beloved single to many fans, thanks to its varied track list, and its two stand-out songs, Gamusha LIFE and Tsugi no Kado wo Magare. Heck, even though I wasn't a big fan of the group back in 2015, even I appreciated how great this single was, and two years on, I still think it's amazing. I mean, what isn't there to like? This is one of the groups best releases, if you ask me.

Of course, favouritism doesn't come into play for why this single is on this list for my ℃-utie Week reviews; the release of this single is pivotal to the groups career, marking their 10th anniversary and showcasing just how far they had come as a unit. Originally, I intended on only reviewing the music video for Gamusha LIFE, because again, 10th anniversary, however, after re-watching the music video, I knew I wouldn't be able to gouge a lot from it for a full-on MV review. It's pretty, I enjoy it, but... it's not enough. So, I decided to go for a single review, because why the heck not?

For ℃-ute, this release hit a milestone year in their careers as an Idol group, and delivered to us listeners something amazing. In a diverse, entertaining bundle of songs, the triple A-side that is The Middle Management ~Josei Chuukan Kanrishoku~ / Gamusha LIFE / Tsuga no Kado wo Magare plays up to the strengths of H!P's finest, and further proves to us fans that, no matter how old they become or how long they have been around, they will always put their best foot forward, and show us the power that these five contain.

[℃-utie Week] I Want to Listen to The Most Heavenly Music! - 'Aitai Aitai Aitai na' Single Review

℃-utie Week marches on, and in our third post celebrating the delight of ℃-ute comes in the form of a single review, where we will take a look at a single that celebrates the cool and intense side of the adorably named unit, as well as the surprising addition of the powerful B-side that pretty much bowled over the fandom, before earning a spot as its own A-side in a later release.

It's a slice of Heaven, if ever there was one.

Rock on, 2012. Though a bit of a slow year in terms of ℃-ute themed single releases, (they only had two. The other was Kono Machi) there is a single from that very year that stands out, for both its sound and its quality. Dispute either of those statements all you like, but for my terribly tuned ears, Aitai Aitai Aitai na is a splendid release. So, why the heck have I overlooked it before now?

Because I am an idiot, that's why. My inadequacy as a music lover is no secret, though, so yeah. There we goesy.

Of all the releases I will be reviewing this week, I admit that this is the one I have less of an attachment to. I do some have familiarity with it, for one, I remember the core sound of the leading track. I also remember some shoulder shimmies from the music video, and of course, I know one of the two coupling tracks really well. The rest, however, I forget. I couldn't recall the music video at all, nor did I remember much about the leading A-side, apart from its catchy use of the title and its chorus. It's not Campus Life; I don't remember it, ergo I do not care for it.

Oh, and it's a lot better than Kiss Me Aishiteru. Please don't hit me!

Before I further dig my grave, I'm going to take a look at ℃-ute's 19th single release, Aitai Aitai Aitai na. Is it as heavenly in sound as you had hoped it would be, or will the music leave behind a tinge of sadness once you have finished listening?

I want. I want. I want... to listen to something good today.

Get Ready, A Brand New Morning Begins! Bring on Morning Musume '17's [BRAND NEW MORNING / Jealousy Jealousy]! (Single Review)

With two new faces and a brand new era ready to begin, Morning Musume '17 are ready to show off their group power in their latest release, BRAND NEW MORNING / Jealousy Jealousy, a double A-side release complete with coupling tracks! The first of its kind in a long-while, the groups 63rd single release seems to promise something more than what previous singles have offered. Whether or not it lives up to its promise, is another thing entirely.

Is this era going to be a flop just like the last one, or will we see power return to Morning Musume as they currently stand? Let's listen, and find out.

I was excited for this debut. Since the horrible introduction of 12th generation (in sound; visually, it was great), I was... apprehensive, but filled with anticipation, because whilst I do like 12ki and find that they are growing nicely into the group as of late, I can't deny that 13th gen are a far better fit for the group. Both Kaede and Reina, as they are now, seem pretty confident in how they present themselves towards the camera, and both look great with the current lineup! Reina has a very cheeky, cute look that fits well with members like Masaki, Duu, Maria, Akane and Harunan, whilst Kaede's cool, mature vibe fits well with Eriman, Ayumi and Ogata. They are a balanced generation in how they look and feel, but they both seem really determined to impress, as well.

I feel like, as a generation, these two could go pretty far, and prove to be a little bit of competition for the existing senior members. At least, they could, if only management let them. We shall see...

Hopefully their future releases will prove as promising as this one, but for now, it is BRAND NEW MORNING / Jealousy Jealousy that we will focus on. The future will come along soon enough, but until that time comes, let's enjoy the dawn of a new era, and enjoy all that the 13th generation and a twelve thirteen member Morning Musume brings us...

Let's Try Something Beautiful This First Sunrise! 'Hatsukoi Sunrise / Just Try! / Uruwashi no Camellia' Single Review!

I am not keeping up with the current lineup of Hello! Pro newbies. Heck, I'm having a hard enough time remembering that Juice=Juice are still around, so... yeah, me and H!P are still on rocky terms. MM are getting appealing again, C-ute are going soon (sniffsniff), Country Girls are fine so far, and Juice=Juice are forgettable. I'm still not interested in what Kobushi have to offer of the two Factory productions, and Tsubaki...

Well, Tsubaki has potential.

From the get-go, I was a little more interested in this group than Kobushi. They're a lot less polished, the girls are not immediate stars, and they were still finding their sound. Unlike Kobushi, who were thrown a bone right away because of their gem encrusted lineup, Tsubaki actually had some time to season and find their footing in concerts and sound, which is what I like to see in a newly produced group. So of course, they are sitting well with me, already.

I get sour when groups aren't given time to grow. It happened with Juice=Juice, and look at where they stand with me, now; I forget they bloody exist.

Moving on... Tsubaki intrigue me. I like the look of the lineup. I liked how bored a few of them looked in their early videos. I was intrigued by their mature sound, and how well it suited them in their testing period. Also, they are all darned cute. Yumeno is especially eye catching, Asakura Kiki is a very deserving centre with a shark-like smile that rivals Ishida Ayumi's,and Niinuma Kisora is seriously calling to me. She's a refreshing little bud of joy.

I don't know all of the members yet, but some I can definitely pin-point, with the above three being the ones I like most, and then the Knock-off Yanagawa Nanami kid (Akiyama Mao), and Budget Hamaura Ayano (Ogata Risa). The rest, I am currently unsure of, but I'm sure I'll learn their names... eventually.

One step ahead of Kobushi, that's for sure! I think the minor interest helps, too~

Hopefully after taking in their major debut and digesting it a little, I'll be able to figure out whether or not I want to keep up with them. So, that's what I will do today. We're going to give the latest Hello! Pro group a try, and see just how much they tickle my taste buds! Will these sweet Camellia's keep up with my interests, or fall as flat as the Kobushi lot have in charisma, style and vocals?

[predia week] The Promise of predia's Debut - 'Kowarete Ai no Hate ni' (Single Review)

predia week meets its fourth day, where we take a look back at the groups major debut single, Kowareta Ai no Hate ni! Though the members of predia might sing about a broken love, let's enjoy this single release as much as we have in previous reviews, and cherish the beauty of their song.

Even when our eyes are filled with tears and mirrored fragments settle by our feet, let's find a beauty that lurks deep within this sadness and regret...

Okay, so I have technically reviewed Kowareta Ai no Hate ni already; I checked the song out on day one of my predia week reviews, because it was #11 on the Dahlia album, and yeah, I liked it then and there. Thing is, listening to a song on an album feels different to listening to it alone, because on an album, a song is swamped by the others - you hear so many, and one little ditty can get lost in the fray - yet in a single, it can stand out. So, there's a difference there... sorta.

That's how I see it, and that's my opinion. I'm sticking to it, no matter how weird it might sound. Ha.

I guess I could have easily switched this song out, like I did with Utsukushiki Kodoku Tachi when I saw I was going to be reviewing it three times, however I wanted to give this one a go, because, you never know; I could begin to like it a lot more in its single form, plus, I can give it more a little more focus than I did in the album review.

... Looking back, however, I kind of gave that song a great amount of focus. Still, though, this single has a b-side attached to it I hadn't heard yet, and that very b-side contains the word Cinderella in its title. I will review it, damnit, for the sake of potential fairy tale antics and happiness! Roar!

So, following the list my dear Ashley sent me with some dedication, today we take a look at the major debut single from predia for predia week! It's time to experience the start of the predia we know today. I wonder, will they disappoint, or only allow me to fall further in love with them after this review is over...?

[predia week] These Sweet Tones of Seduction - 'Mitashite Amore' (Single Review)

predia week continues! With a list of songs and videos to review, all written up and provided by my dear Ashley, I will be dedicating my time and reviews to a week of predia! By the time this small challenge comes to an end, will I love and adore them as much as Ashley seems to, or I will I simply pass them over as I have done, in years gone by? Well, until we come to that bridge and cross it, who knows?

Today, in our second Review dedicated to all that is predia, we take a look at the romantic side to this mature, womanly group. After listening to the tracks provided, will I be feeling a bit of sweet amore?

After introducing myself to predia with one of their albums, Koko no Dahlia ni Kuchizuke wo, it's nice that now I can just relax, and listen to something a little less heavy. I'm not really an album listener, per say, though I have a few I enjoy and think highly of. Really, though, I'm more of a music video / single person, because it's easier for me to sit and listen to, plus, it takes a lot less time to figure out just how much I enjoy or dislike what has been released. With an album, I must take everything into account, and see just how well songs flow and fit together. Sometimes, albums do this exceptionally well, other times, it's just jarring.

Luckily, predia entered the former category with their last release, but it was not subject to its meh songs, either, though you are free to disagree on my this, of course.

Still, it's nice that I'm taking a step back and going on to something a little lighter, but still fun and energetic in all it delivers. I actively look forward to reviewing this single, because, honestly... it's awesome. I won't reveal much more on the matter until I get into the songs a bit more, because this is a review, not an overview.

Before I dare talk any more, and get myself into a little bit of a tangent, it's time to get into the single that is Mitashite Amore! Perfect for Valentine's and any day filled with love, it's time to seduce your ears with the sweet tones of predia.

Christmas songs are amazing. They can bring out the spirit with the tinkle of a tune, whilst also portraying a variety of emotions within the depths of their sound. Whether it is emotional or energetic, it is truly wonderful just how varied a Christmas or Winter song can become, yet still feel like it is a part of the winter and Christmas season. Whether it is pop or rock, dance or a ballad, it seems that whatever the genre and style, you can somehow put an inkling of Christmas in there! Ah, the power of winter spirit and twinkling sounds.

With a jingle and a bell, we're going to take a look at some songs that embody this idea of Christmas time, but in a few different sounds. It's time to sit by the fire, put the presents under the tree, and hum a lovely little tune as we warm ourselves with eggnog and mulled wine.

A Young Mermaid's Love Song - 'Seishun Mermaid' Single Review!

As the waves crash and storms rise, the rocks meet water and a ship begins to sail wildly through the treacherous waters, lured towards a bed carved of stone, as a Mermaid's woeful song rings through the night air as the dark Ocean becomes a Sailor's new home...

Released at the tail end of June, Houkago Princesses latest summer single, Seishun Mermaid, is sure to make a bit of a splash with the fans thanks to its catchy tune and melodic vocals, courtesy of resident Diva-voice Maika, Leader Odagiri Nana and soon-to-Graduate Miyashita Mayuka, who aspires to become a voice actress after leaving the group. Containing two new tracks, the single features two bittersweet love songs befitting of a Mermaid's one-sided love with a human, and her desire to walk alongside him, no matter what the cost may be.

As this single is based on what was my favourite childhood movie, as well as one of Hans Christian Anderson's most beloved fairy tales, you might have already gathered that I was READY FOR THIS. I've been waiting impatiently, wanting to hear the full audio in clear, beautiful studio quality after I watched the girls introduce the feature track on SHOWROOM LIVE. I was also waiting for the full MV to come out with much anticipation and impatience, of course, because IT IS HOUPRI, and right now, their videos get better with each release, so of course I wanted to see it!

It wasn't what I expected, however it still blew me away. So, yeah, I was happy to have finally seen it. And now, I have finally heard it all, crisp and clear, and I'm in love. I am so on love with this, because it's HouPri, because it's a story, and because it's feeding my childhood nostalgia and giving me life. So, that kinda means we're gonna talk about it, because it's what I do best, and because I have to share this absolute joy with you all!

Diving into the world of the sea, let's join these Mermaids of HouPri as they become human girls to follow their destiny! In an upbeat yet bittersweet song of love and desire, will these songstresses of the waves ever find what they are looking for, or will they simply become the foam of the sea?

This is a song of a Mermaid in love, and it is Houkago Princesses latest Fairy Tale rendition.

It's been a long while since I last reviewed a single, and by a long while, I mean since December of 2015. It's been half a year or more, people! I think it's time I talked songs, instead of news updates, music selections, and the like. Time to hit those AniSongs, Chiimaw! GO!

Through many random ventures on Youtube, I continuously find myself enamored by a variety of artists and groups, and thanks to my recent series, [Music Selection], I came across the newly debuted Anime Soloist, Murakawa Rie, a girl with a voice and sound so sweet, she is sure to give you diabetes upon trilling a tiny tune! Her debut single is also one of the most anticipated releases of 2016 for yours truly, as when I first heard the title track, Sweet Sensation, I kind of fell head over heels in love.

It's cute, it's bright, and it sure as heck gave me a cavity or five. What isn't there to enjoy, am I right!?

So, given how much I seemed to enjoy the song from the short PV released all the way back in March (with the actual single being released in June, of all months, which was actually cruel on my part, because I craaaaved this single!), I thought it right to review it here, on my blog, rather than somewhere else, because I've been waiting for this. It was an impatient wait, sure, but I waited all the same, and never forgot how much I enjoyed the short track from its MV preview, all those months ago.

So, without further ado, let's cut this chit chat, and take a chance to try out this sugary, sweet debut from Murakawa Rie, a girl filled with so much helium and delight, she can barely stay on the ground! Will the sensation you feel when hearing her new release be as sweet as I think she is? Let's listen and find out!
